Tonga underwater volcanic eruption produced the highest-ever
plume on RECORD, reaching an altitude of 187,000 feet, study
reveals
On January 15, the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai underwater volcano
erupted
Scientists have found the plume of ash it released was the
highest on record
They used images taken by three weather satellites to calculate
its height
. . .
Impressive !
Some suggest the volume of water it injected into
the stratosphere may have contributed to this year's
weird, extreme, weather. Most big volcanoes bletch
fine ash which COOLS - but this one bletched an
absolutely gigantic amount of WATER (a greenhouse gas).
