• copraphagic gut brain rabbit holes

Quite a while back I think we were on some consciousness tangent where
Martin had introduced the notion of the root brain of trees and the forest floor internetwork of mycorrhiza that facilitated some sort of
quasi-neuronal informational flow. I poo pooed it at the time but later
    thought it kinda nifty.

Well I just got interested in whether our own microbiome composition may
have influence over our cognition or mood via the so-called gut brain. Intriguing idea that, but be careful when traveling down web-based rabbit
holes you don’t fall into a chamber full of fecal pellets. I’ll just leave this here for your reading enjoyment:

I’ll never be the same again.

Last October, I asked for podcast recommendations on podcasts. One of
the links you gave me was to 'You Are Not So Smart with David
McRaney'1 and I listened to Annie Murphy Paul talking about her book
"The Extended Mind The Power of Thinking Outside the Brain". [1] I
liked what she was saying enough to get the book. Some fascinating
insights into how our *whole body* is involved in the thinking process
and how our thinking ability can be depressed or amplified by the
environment where we are doing our thinking.
