• OT: On The Bomb

With the recent theatrical release of the movie "Oppenheimer", I
thought others in T.O. would be interested in the following
perspective about the historical development of The Bomb:

The video title is an exaggeration. Although Oppenheimer is often
called "The father of the atomic bomb", that label refers to his role
in leading the scientific team that created it. Like almost all
significant inventions, the A-bomb knows many fathers (and mothers).

The following is a link to a 30-minute Veritasium video which adds
    additional historical information:

The following is a link to a 1.75-hour American Experience video about Oppenheimer's fall from grace and the revocation of his security
clearance and ending his scientific career:

I don't know if the above plays in all countries. If you're
interested and can't watch it, try using a VPN that spoofs your
    country of origin.

With the introduction of tactical nuclear weapons into Belarus, and
Putin's threat to use them, the above have immediate relevance to contemporaneous events.
