She went drinking at two bars right after work on the way to her car.
What did she think was going to happen?
A woman found dead behind a building in Laguna Beach has been
identified, and friends remembered her as happy and as “an angel.”
The Laguna Beach Police Department is investigating the death of the
woman found by a construction worker behind a building in the 200 block
of Ocean Avenue on Nov. 12.
On Tuesday, the Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as 27-year-old San Clemente resident Tatum Lee Goodwin.
Over 100 people gathered at the edge of the San Clemente Pier on
Wednesday evening to honor Goodwin. People gathered tightly together
holding candles and flowers as friends shared joyful memories of her.
“She worked so hard and she loved so hard,” said her neighbor Georgette
Schuda. “She was nothing but happy on the day her life was taken from
her,”
Goodwin’s cause of death is still under investigation, but detectives
“found the scene to be suspicious” and are investigating the death as a homicide, according to police. Laguna Beach authorities on Wednesday
arrested a suspect, 26-year-old Dino Rojas-Moreno, on suspicion of
murder. Whether Goodwin died at the scene or if her body was placed
there is also under investigation.
A GoFundMe has been organized by Marcos Heredia, who said that Goodwin
worked at Carmelita’s, a local restaurant he owns. Nearly $24,000 has
already been raised through the page, which seeks funds for Goodwin’s
memorial service and help with creating a memorial in the city “so
everyone in town never forgets about our sweet friend Tatum.”

“She was an angel. She was nice to everyone and treated everyone like
family,” said Goodwin’s 50-year-old coworker, who asked not to be named
out of fear for his safety.
Goodwin would often frequent Hennessey’s Tavern with her co-workers
after her evening shifts.
Brenden Burley, a bartender at the Marine Room across the street from Hennessey’s said Goodman had met with two female friends for drinks at
the bar that evening.
“We all knew her, everybody around here loved her,” said Burley.
Several posters seeking information surrounding Goodwin’s death are
spread throughout several businesses in the area. Hennessey’s on social
media asked people to send leads to police.
“I won’t feel better until they find out who it is,” said Nicole Rogers,
28, from San Clemente. Rogers, who works as a server and bartender at Carmelita’s, said she used to park near the hillside neighborhood but
has started parking next to the restaurant in fear of her safety.
Anyone with information on the case was asked to call Detective Tanner
Flagstad at 949-497-0369. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling
Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS or by using the website, occrimestoppers.org
