Chennai - A day after reminding the Union Government
about it's obligation to protect the States from external
aggressions and internal disturbances, J Jayalalithaa,
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, has sent a Mayday message to
Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the State of
despondency among the fishermen in the State due to
"frequent attacks" on them by the Shri Lankan Navy.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister, Jayalalithaa
blamed the Shri Lankan Government for abducting fishermen
from the State and seizure of their boats despite her
previous letters highlighting the plight of the poor
fishermen who fish in their "traditional waters" in the
Palk Bay. The latest letter, excerpts of which were
released to the media on Sunday, is the fallout of the
arrest of four fishermen and their mechanised boat last
Friday.
