The reason we haven't met any aliens is because intelligent
societies tend to wipe themselves out - NASA says

    . . .

Ummmmmmmm ... not even NASA knows what "alien civilizations"
are like. Good guess, they won't think like we do, will have
different priorities, different needs, different goals. Their
reasoning may be totally incomprehensible to us.

Not the best movie, but consider the scenario in "Arrival"
      to be indicative.

After 60+ years of trying we can't even figure out what
the dolphins - fellow mammals - are talking about. We
can prove statistically they ARE saying stuff, but that's
about as far as we get. What/how do THEY think ? What's
      their "reality" ?

In short, NASA and everybody else ought to just SHUT UP
when it comes to alien civs. Worse than guesswork. Spend
tax money better. Our only reference is ourselves - nekked
      monkey derivatives.

It's why in all those "B" movies we immediately send the
Army to wherever the aliens set down - we automatically
assume they think just like us ... vicious conquering
types. Maybe we should send salesmen or musicians first ?
      Ok, not mimes .....

The "dangerous conquering alien" was largely the product
of H.G.Wells and his brother - who had become a bit sour
on self-superior British imperialism and mused about
something that would kick self-superior British ass as
easily as the Brits could gloriously conquer opponents
      armed with spears and arrows.

The BETTER interpretations of why we never hear from
aliens are (a) Light-Speed really IS insurmountable
(bad news) or (b) Said civs reach tech/curiosity
levels similar to ours just earlier or later than
we did ... so any signals/probes simply missed us
      entirely.

Oh, and (c) ... there may never have BEEN any aliens
in the first place, at least none anywhere "close".

Maybe aliens look at us and want to stay as far away as possible.

Aw ... lots of credits to be made duping the
local yokels with shiny baubles !

Humans ARE a fairly aggressive, hostile, species
though. WOULD be best to keep a distance.

Or maybe they're "Klingons" and think we're too
wimpy, unworthy of conquest, no honor in it ? :-)

In any case, I'm sick of the speculation by govt-paid
and capitalizers like Prof Kaku and friends. They don't
know dick - so why give 'em a dollar ?
