During President Biden’s State of the Union, he will unveil
his plan to raise the minimum corporate tax by a whopping 40%
as well as implement a tax on the rich that would be at least 25%.

Biden would raise the corporate tax rate to 28% and the
corporate minimum tax to 21%. Currently, the minimum corporate
tax rate stands at 15% after Biden implemented that earlier
in his presidency. Biden would also refuse companies tax
deductions for employees making over $1 million. “The President
is proposing to levy a 25 percent minimum tax on the wealthiest
0.01 percent, those with wealth of more than $100 million,”
    the White House stated.

    . . .

Oh, YOU WON'T NOTICE IT A BIT ... but GUESS who REALLY
gets to pay the bill when you tax businesses ???

Assuming your job doesn't just disappear entirely.

But hey, we'll just have it Made In China, no worries !

Biz tax is a "stealth tax" - kinda like robbing the
SS fund. It's not on the public's tax bill so few
    will notice.

    But what goes around .....

It's the same situation with fuel prices. The progressive idiots say things like "I don't drive a
car" or why not take public transportation?" and so forth.

These idiots don't realize that every single item they purchase is affected by fuel prices.
And when the fuel prices go up, so do the prices of goods.

The plan is to drive all rightists out of business.

    Trump's tax cuts failed.

Similarly, rigorous research concluded that the tax law's 20 percent pass- through deduction, which was skewed in favor of wealthy business owners, has largely failed to trickle down to workers in those companies who aren't
owners. Like the Bush tax cuts before it, the 2017 Trump tax cut was a trickle-down failure

Thank god that corrupt anti-American criminal is going to prison where he's going to be until his dying day. No one deserves to be punished more than traitor Trump.

Pre Covid, about 5% of the work force worked from home.

    Now it's about 30%.

Great points. The country is in great shape. There are complainers,
generally those not doing as well as the rest of the country. Many of
those same folks, in other times, were quick to say to others "Pick
yourselves up by your bootstraps and work harder."

We've got one of the best economies on the planet. But it would be cool

My statement was that fewer people are commuting because more are remotely working. You
disagreed with that and offered as proof a fifty year government forecast.

What you said was "overall, there are fewer vehicles on the road as more
and more people work from home." Less people may be commuting (which I
don't dispute), but overall there are not fewer vehicles on the road, as

you're doubling down instead of admitting you goofed and proving yourself wrong with your

    HAW HAW HAW HAW !!!!

Your graph, YOUR OWN CITE, shows clearly that miles driven are DOWN.

Trillions of miles driven per YOUR CITE:
    2019: 3.25
    2020: 3.28
    2021: 2.83
    2022: 3.17
    2023: 3:19

I said "vehicle miles traveled are going up." Last time I looked 3.17 is
more than 2.83; and 3.19 is more than 3.17. The trend is upward from
Covid lows (when your lords and masters dedcided to all but shut the
country down), as the projections I provided confirm.

No the link does not. Your link proves nothing except the DOT's long term forecast was in
    error.

How can it be in error when the future hasn't happened yet? What we can
look at are the two years since the covid closures and the numbers are
up; there is no reason to believe they will go down, particularly since
people are buying more cars and the population is growing. Total miles
traveled are not going down, absent another debacle of a govt shutdown
    or calamity.

My statement was based on less driving even though there are more cars registered. Being
    registered doesn't mean being driven.

There was only less driving due to covid closures (which you really
never identified that as your reference point initiallly). So, of course
there was less driving during the covid years after your lords and
masters all but shut everything down. Since then, the trend is upward.
All we can rely on is what happened since then (trending upward) and
    predictive analysis.

Your link was not what you said it was, you are incorrect and the fact is that people are
driving less which means fewer cars actually, physically on the road.

Driving less than what? Pre-covid? You didn't say that in your initial
post, I don't believe. But if that's the reference point then yes, you
are correct. Then again, that's the only way your conclusion works.
Truth is, though, since then the trend is upward, and the numbers I
    linked to prove it.

It doesn't matter what the government "estimates" for the future, the facts today are
quite different. May I point out the incongruity of you relying on government statistics?
    Your link: https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/policyinformation/tables/vmt/vmt_forecast_sum.cfm

See? It even has "forecast" in the title.

Yes, the facts are since the covid closure nonsense ended miles traveled
are moving upward. Going forward, what are we supposed to rely on? I
know - predictive analysis i.e. forecast. Time will tell whether it is
correct or not. What I do know is since the end of covid the trend of
miles traveled is upwards. So yeah, we're driving less than pre-covid.
But, if that's how you want to play then I can simply say we're driving
more than during, and the end of, covid and the trend is upwards since
    then.

Your second link which proves my claim is accurate and yours is not: <https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10315>

Note how the graph clearly shows there are fewer miles being driven since 2019.

Uhm....okay...and the graph clearly shows that there are more miles
being driven since 2021 (and going up).

    Mine:
"We Own More Cars Than Ever. So Why Are We Driving Less?
America has become a stay-at-home nation, despite all the cars and trucks in our garages"
    <https://www.wsj.com/business/autos/we-own-more-cars-than-ever-so-why-are-we-driving-less-2b472f68>

"Americans are still driving less than before the pandemic" <https://ssti.us/2023/03/06/americans-are-still-driving-less-than-before-the-pandemic/>

"Americans Are Driving Less, But Buying More Cars" <https://jalopnik.com/americans-are-driving-less-but-buying-more-cars-1851124192>

These stories are supported by the graph you provided at: <https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10315>

Btw, your original link also predicts real disposable income growth at nearly 2% a year
through 2049. It also predicts gasoline won't go up but that real GDP will grow by almost
    2%. <https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/policyinformation/tables/vmt/vmt_forecast_sum.cfm>
Do you stand by those predictions too?

projection of future action as evidence of past action. No wonder you're an extremist.
Your grasp of reality is tenuous at best.

Okay, we'll put you down as a predictive analysis denier. We'll also
assume you put absolutely no faith in this administration's forecasting
insofar as debt reduction, tax revenue, immigration resolution, Ukaraine fuinding, foreign policy, education success, etc. etc. etc.

    What we can
look at are the two years since the covid closures and the numbers are
    up;

No, they are not. The numbers were projected to go up but in fact, they went down.
    <https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10315>

Yes they are. Closures lasted until the end of August, 2020, at which
point opening began. At that point the numbers went up. Here are the
    numbers (from the cite above):

    2021: 2.83
    2022: 3.17
2023: 3.19 (note below the USDOT link that puts this one into even more perspective)

Now, what is is about these *increasing* numbers that you can't quite
    grasp?

This is your problem. You're trying to push a projection as fact. Your link:

Uhm...2022 and 2023 arene't projections. They are *facts* that happened.

    <https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/policyinformation/tables/vmt/vmt_forecast_sum.cfm>

contained no fact, only projection, expectation.

My claim was that Americans are driving less.

Less than what? Your cherry picked 2020? I already conceded that if you
meant that that changes the discussion a bit. But I can play that game
too. I hereby select 2021, therefore Americans are driving more since
then (based on 2022 and 2023 - not projections BTW), with no end in
sight based on those pesky projections.

Here is the graph to prove it.
    <https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10315>

Thanks, it backs up my statement above. But wait, there's more!!!

Here's is another study (from the USDOT) that I came across this
morning. It shows higher miles traveled by end of 2023 at 3.26. Guess
what, that's higher than pre-pandemic. In fact, it's the highest ever.

    https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/policyinformation/travel_monitoring/23dectvt/23dectvt.pdf

Here's also an article that references the study and has a good
    discussion about it. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a46697356/americans-drove-more-than-ever-before-in-2023/

If you don't care to read it here's the main takeaway, from its opening:

American drivers put more miles on our roadways in 2023 than ever
before, according to data released Thursday from the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Commission's Traffic Volume Trends study.
With over 3.263 trillion miles traveled by Americans last year, the
United States has finally *topped the pre-pandemic levels* of travel
    from 2019.

Lying to me isn't like lying to the public. Doubling, even tripling down on your lie will
    not make me believe it.

The numbers don't lie. For some inexplicable reason you can't seem to understand them.

The fact remains that Americans are driving less than they were pre pandemic as I
    originally wrote.

Notwithstanding that you never said "pre-pandemic in your original
statement, (you said: "But overall, there are fewer vehicles on the road
as more and more people work from home"), the above referenced USDOT
    study says you're wrong.

I provided multiple additional links showing the FACTs, one of which you provided and now
    seem to want to ignore.

FACT: Americans are still buying cars, but driving less since the pandemic.
