In areas throughout the United States, a highly potent new
synthetic opioid is starting to show up on the streets and
is having devastating effects on its users. A class of opioids
called ‘nitazenes’ has recently been found in syringes
examined by scientists throughout the country.

    . . .

Part of the prob with Fentanyl is that it's SO strong that
it's difficult for the dealers to 'cut' properly. You might
get 10 times too little - or 10 times too much.

Now multiply that problem by a factor of 20.

Sorry, but bombing poppy fields isn't going to help here.
Fentanyl and now Nitrazines are 100% synthetic ... made
from jars of chemicals. Might even engineer bacteria or
something to make them (which could be a DISASTER). For
whatever buzz these days there are many, sometimes dozens,
of odd synthetic analogs. Advances in knowledge of brain
chemistry means there will be new families of drugs with
perhaps very bizarre effects every few years.

For the dope trade, stronger is better. It means smuggling
much smaller quantities of the product or precursors - small
enough to easily evade notice. However the 'cutting' issue
has now come to the forefront. And no, people looking for a
buzz are NOT gonna presume they're gonna OD - it's a 'human
    nature' thing.

Some cities have tried legalization ... but it's not REAL
legalization. There are no sources of scientifically
quantified/qualified heroin, Fentanyl, Nitrazines - it
still all comes from the usual drug lords, no better than
people get anywhere without legalization. Frankly, people
were much safer when they bought their opiates at the
local pharmacy, brand-name pills. Unless the US west coast
plans/dares to clear the way for local manufacture of opiates
the body count will rapidly increase. They won't dare, the
legal issues are WAY too extreme both from the Fed and
    from the ambulance-chasers.
