Was in a Name Bank the other day. An older couple - maybe 75 -
asked a rep about help setting up/changing a CD. He MAY have
been the ONLY rep in the building. He told them to "do it
online" - couldn't even make an appointment.
Well, people that age don't DO "online", probably can't even
read a PC or decidedly a tiny smartphone screen. Don't know
what an "app" is. However they DO hold maybe half the wealth
in the country (those who invested smartly).
And hey, apps and 'AI' are USELESS for nuances - they
don't "understand" DICK. They're just a CHEAP EXCUSE
for banks to cut way back on HUMAN staff, thinking
that's gonna save them somehow.
This is just UNACCEPTABLE. Worth seeing if the pols
will LEGISLATE about it. The "online" thing likely
falls afoul of the ADA too. Lawyers, rev yer engines !
Now I've seen a few 'small/regional' banks that are
now promising TO have plenty of human help. They
will be able to recruit ex-employees from those
high-and-mighty Name Banks. The customers, the
MONEY ... they'll rapidly get all that TOO and
yer 100+ year old Name Banks will implode.
