Sears reopens department store in California mall - only for
shoppers to slam 'depressing' displays and empty shelves at
    ailing retail giant

Just 11 of over 700 Sears stores remain open after the chain
was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2018

The Burbank Town Center branch reopened on Sunday after closing
at the end of last year

But visitors have slammed its 'stained carpet' and
    'empty shelves'

    . . .

It really wasn't THAT long ago when Sears was alive,
with stores everywhere. It had something for everyone.
I liked to shop there. I can remember most of the
last stuff I bought, mostly hardware/electric stuff,
some neat tools, a pair of boots ........

Now clearly online-shopping took its toll, but I suspect
BAD MANAGEMENT was also part of the equation. The last
time I was at Sears the place was NOT empty, the usual
number of customers, and they WERE buying stuff. Some
woman was buying basically a whole bedroom set, there
were a bunch of us in the tool dept, one person was
buying an exercise machine, a number were buying shirts
and pants and such, a TV was sold, all within the 30
minutes I was there. So, NO real lack of purchasing.

And weirder, Sears was kind of the original for
"online purchasing" ... its big catalogs were
legend back into the latter 1800s. You could order
most anything from the catalog, including log-cabins.
No Fed-Ex, but it'd get there.

The good part about brick-n-mortar stores is that you
can actually TOUCH the stuff, SEE what it looks like,
READ the fine print on the labels, try ON clothes and
shoes and such. Can't do that online. MAYbe you'll get
lucky, LIKELY you'll get screwed somehow.
