The head of the UK Scout movement faces questions about
why 4,500 children travelled to a jamboree in South Korea
despite his prior concerns about the safety of the campsite.
Parents and volunteers have demanded to know why Matt Hyde,
the chief executive of UK Scouts, did not call a halt to
the trip following months of warnings about intense heat,
flooding and other health hazards and said he will need
to “take responsibility” for the decision.
The British contingent abandoned the campsite on Friday,
just two days into the event, over multiple concerns
about sanitation, food and high temperatures at the site,
which is on mosquito-infested agricultural land that was
flooded when the scouts arrived last week.
. . .
Uh ... what exactly do "Scouts" LEARN these days,
how to bow to trannies ? Badges for "sensitivity" ?
What, can't build their own shade/shelter ? Can't
dig a latrine trench ? Don't know how to keep the
bugs away ? A lot of those "children" were well
into their teens - I saw one on BBC bitchin' about
toilets.
The world ain't that nice anymore. Better come up
with a BSA alternative that puts a little of the
paramilitary/survival back in the books. That goes
for the girls too. What do you think the kiddies in
Ukraine have been learning ? Shit happens and
'Scouts' oughtta have a little clue how to deal
with the basics. No they don't need to be Hitler
Youth or Red Guard, decidedly not, but still ...
