Just because you're good at rising to power or getting elected doesn't mean you're good at solving problems. You have to be honest to solve problems; you don't have to be honest to get elected. All top politicians should have a job requirement to attend
regular meetings of a spiritual recovery program, to learn to be more honest and less selfish. It works for that other group of chronic troublemakers (alcoholics and addicts), so it'll work for anyone!

As to the first sentence, I agree.
It was unusual quirk of fates and events that put
Winston Churchill into the UK Prime Minister ship
and Harry Truman into the USA Presidency.
They both hugely shaped the current world.
