    World Poetry Day
    Is the twenty-first of March
    UNESCO says so

    World Poetry Day
    Is the twenty-first of March
    UNESCO says so

«S’io credesse che mia risposta fosse / A persona che mai tornasse al mondo, Questa fiamma staria senza piu scosse. / Ma perciocche giammai di questo fondo Non torno vivo alcun, s’i’odo il vero, / Senza tema d’infamia ti rispondo»

The decrease in popular interest in poetry over time is a shame. Part of it is probably the decrease in interest of poets in writing poetry that appears beautiful to the populace, much like the popular hatred for late 20th century architecture.

You are absolutely right! There is an interesting coincidence here.

Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday is indeed celebrated on March 21st, according to the Julian calendar which was in use in Germany at the time of his birth in 1685.

However, the reason for World Poetry Day being on March 21st seems unrelated to Bach's birthday. As mentioned earlier, there's no official record explaining the specific date chosen by UNESCO. It's likely just a coincidence that they both
    fall on the same day.
