    Kings Of Colosseum

    Date: July 6, 2019

    Location: Cicero Stadium, Chicago, Illinois

    Commentators: Rich Bocchini, Jim Cornette

We’ve got another live show here and so far, the success rate for these has been pretty good. The shows tend to run a bit longer than a regular episode
of Fusion, but that should probably be the case when the show is supposed
to be bigger. The main event is MLW World Champion defending against Jacob
Fatu in a match that could go either way. Let’s get to it.

We open with a preview of tonight’s show.

The opening video looks at the major matches with no commentary.
National Openweight Title: Alexander Hammerstone vs. ???

This is Hammerstone’s Star Spangled Banner Challenge and the Dynasty is out in full force. Before anyone answers the challenge, Hammerstone says he represents a true American hero, unlike those dastardly Harts back there. That’s why he’s a fighting champion so he wants opponents from all corners of the world. He wants the cream of the crop, but he’s the creamiest of
    them all.

It’s Kotto Brazil answering the challenge and Cornette knows this one is going to hurt. Maxwell Jacob Friedman joins commentary and he rants about
his microphone being off, meaning he throws the headset down and leaves in
a huff as only he can. And now he’s back with the headset working, which Friedman blames on Court Bauer being scared of how great he is at
commentary. Brazil starts fast with a middle rope spinning forearm as
Friedman has Aria Blake sit on his lap so they can talk about whatever,
    ahem, pops up.

Kotto kicks at the ribs but gets shoved away and eats a bicycle kick. Hammerstone tosses him over his head with ease and a second toss cuts
Brazil off again. The Nightmare Pendulum is broken up though and Brazil
nails his tornado DDT. A missile dropkick puts Hammerstone down and a frog splash gets two. Richard Holliday offers a distraction though and a very delayed vertical superplex plants Brazil. The Nightmare Pendulum retains
    the title at 5:39.

Result: Alexander Hammerstone b. Kotto Brazil Nightmare Pendulum (5:39)

Post match the Dynasty puts the American flag around Hammerstone and
Friedman brags about him. Friedman isn’t done though and calls out the Hart Foundation for a Tag Team Title shot.

Cornette and Bocchini talk about the World Title match and how bad it would
    be if Fatu won.

Simon Gotch talks about how Contra attacked Tom Lawlor the last time they
were here. A clean shaven Lawlor jumps him from behind and asks if Fatu is ready.

We get a quick look at Frank Gotch vs. George Hackenschmidt in 1911.

MLW will be on pay per view on November 2, including four title matches.
    Myron Reed vs. Rey Horus

Reed has Jordan Oliver in his corner. Hold on as Reed needs to bail to the floor again as he and Oliver don’t think much of the fans. Reed gets in a shot to the face to start but a leg lariat takes him down. Back up and some running from Horus sends Reed outside for another breather. Reed’s headlock doesn’t work very well as Horus snaps off a running hurricanrana.

Oliver grabs Horus’ leg though, allowing Reed to duck a clothesline and
kick Horus in the head. That’s enough to send Horus outside for a stomping from Oliver, which the referee somehow misses. Even commentary is ranting
about how blind he must be to let that happen. Horus is right back up with
a rope walk armdrag to send Reed outside, followed by a backdrop to send an invading Oliver onto him. For some reason the referee won’t let Horus dive
so he dives over the referee instead.

Back in and Reed hits a running dropkick in the corner but a middle rope legdrop to the back of the neck gives Horus two. Something like a Stundog Millionaire drops Horus and Reed nails a springboard 450 for two of his
own. A quick Spanish Fly gives Horus two more as the back and forth
continues. Oliver offers a distraction though and Reed nails a springboard uppercut (the Louisville Slugger) for the pin at 8:42.

Result: Myron Reed b. Rey Horus Louisville Slugger (8:42)

The Hart Foundation agrees to defend against the Dynasty, but it’s in a ladder match with Brian Pillman and Teddy Hart defending. Pillman can’t believe he’s getting the chance and promises to make his family proud.

Cornette is in the ring for a live Jim Cornette Experience with Salina de
la Renta. We hear some of her accolades, including the Female Entrepreneur (which she can’t pronounce) of the Year in Puerto Rico. Cornette brings up
LA Park’s upcoming World Title shot, but that information is confidential. With that out of the way, Cornette asks about Konnan coming back with some fresh talent to go after Salina and company.

Well since Konnan isn’t here and doesn’t have his superstars anymore, he isn’t very good at his job. And he can’t please a woman. Cue Konnan to offer to show how pleasing he can be right now before switching over to
some Spanish. He has a new crop of luchadors coming after Salina, which she calls typical Konnan. Apparently she has a secret that can humiliate Konnan
and end his career once and for all. If he wants it to come out, keep
trying her. Salina leaves and Konnan hits the catchphrase.

We look at Lawlor attacking Gotch again.

    Dr. Wagner Jr. is coming.

The Dynasty is down with Pillman being involved but aren’t sure about the ladder part.

The show is being extended and we’ll see the end of the World Title match
    no matter what.

We look back at Contra attacking Lawlor and nearly causing a riot in
    Chicago.

We run down the tale of the tape for the World Title match and look at all
the former World Champions, including from the old days of the promotion.
MLW World Title: Tom Lawlor vs. Jacob Fatu

Fatu is challenging and there are no Von Erichs to back Lawlor up. There’s also no Gotch with Fatu but Josef Samael is here. In case that isn’t
enough, Salina is watching from the front row. After the Big Match Intros, we’re finally ready to go. Lawlor’s shots to the face don’t do much as Fatu
sends him to and knocks him off the apron for a big crash. A whip into the barricade has Lawlor in trouble and he gets choked with the camera cord to
    make it even worse.

Back in and Fatu knocks him down again and a slam keeps Lawlor in trouble. Fatu’s middle rope headbutt misses and Lawlor goes straight for the choke, which is tossed away with ease. The second and third attempts slow Fatu
down but he’s fine enough to drive Lawlor back first into the corner. The double springboard moonsault misses and a Samael distraction backfires as Lawlor gets in a low blow. Fatu misses his seated senton as Cornette is
trying to get over how the low blow didn’t even take Fatu down.

That lasts all of two seconds as Fatu pops up and says bring it on so
Lawlor grabs a guillotine choke. That’s switched into a DDT attempt but
Fatu handstands his way out of it and busts out a handspring moonsault
because of course he can do that. A missed charge in the corner lets Lawlor hammer away but it’s a superkick into the pop up Samoan drop. The double springboard moonsault gives Fatu the pin and the title at 7:58.

Result: Jacob Fatu b. Tom Lawlor Double springboard moonsault (7:58)

Salina grabs her phone and leaves.

Contra celebrates as commentary panics to end the show.

WWE Receives Praise for Kevin Owens Promo: Did Fans Miss the Point?

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 08:43 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tomclark/wwe-receives-praise-kevin-owens-promo-fans-miss-point/

The WWE faithful are still buzzing over the latest promo from Kevin Owens.
The former Universal champion cut loose on the July 9 edition of SmackDown Live, where he ripped into Shane McMahon. KO was upset that Shane continues
to refer to himself as “the best in the world,” which is a direct insult to the men and women on WWE’s roster.

Owens echoed the sentiments of everyone watching at home, as well as in the live audience. In that moment, he ceased to be a devious heel and instead became an upset fan airing his grievances. He spoke for the people and they
now love him for it. But even as fans hail KO as the second coming of CM
Punk, the fact is that they may have missed the point. Once again, Vince McMahon’s company has displayed another sleight of hand, distracting
    everyone from the real issue.

The Shane McMahon storyline came from WWE, not Shane McMahon. Even if Shane
was the man behind the idea, he still needed the green light to move
forward. He may be the boss’s son, but that perhaps does not necessarily
give him such creative freedom that he can do and say whatever he wants.

Check out KOs buzz worthy promo on SmackDown Live!

The company surely has knowledge of what Shane is going to say before he
says it. The same is certainly true of nearly every talent that pics up a
mic, or looks into the camera to cut a promo. Shane, like every other
Superstar in WWE, is not operating in a bubble. Everything he says and does affects everyone around him and WWE fans know that.

Yet those same fans are currently hating Shane for his work on TV and it’s not because he’s a heel. They hate him because he’s always on the air and as a result, other Superstars are not getting enough TV time. It doesn’t
seem to matter that Shane is working in character, or that this storyline
is hopefully leading to a satisfying conclusion in the near future. The
only thing that matters is that Shane is unnecessary in the role he
currently has and everyone knows it.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with fans becoming emotionally invested in
a character. WWE has a long history of presenting Superstars that cannot
seem to connect to the audience, despite their efforts and efforts from the company as well. So when a talent can invoke that type of emotion from the crowd, it’s definitely a good thing.

Watch how Shane McMahon first became the best in the world

But now KO has indeed been put in the CM Punk spot, as the one man that
dares to speak out against the evil McMahon Family. However, Owens’ words seemed to come from the heart and were much too real to be scripted. KO was speaking up for the fans who have been complaining about Shane and the
state of WWE over the past several months. But is that what really happened?

Or is it possible that once again, WWE trolled its own audience and has
turned the tables on them, as they’ve done so many times in the past? Fans are praising WWE for the Owens “shoot” because it felt so real and was pitch perfect in terms of how unhappy everyone has been with Shane as a full-time character on TV. But Shane’s booking can be directly traced back
to WWE Creative, which means that the company is to blame.

So why would WWE fans, who have seen this sort of scenario play out a
number of times over the years, actually believe that this time is any different? Is Shane McMahon such a convincing heel that fans actually
believe he’s going into business for himself on the mic? Is he really stealing the spotlight from everyone else in the company and doing it for purely selfish reasons?

Assuming that the majority of fans do understand that Shane is just playing
his part and nothing more, then what is the real answer? Do those same fans blame WWE for Shane’s constant presence on TV? Everyone knows that Vince is still the man in charge and that he most certainly knew about his son’s
work on TV from the moment that Shane’s most recent heel turn took place.

Relive CM Punks pipe bomb from 2011!

So are the fans blaming Vince and WWE, instead of Shane? If so, then why
are they now celebrating Owens’ promo, when they know that the same company sent him out to say those emotional words against Shane?

It’s as if WWE created the mess of Shane McMahon’s storyline, then used Owens to clean it up. So instead of praising WWE for KO’s top notch promo, why not just demand better television from the very beginning? Why does WWE continue to speak down to fans with silly angles, then double back with
    angles to salvage the situation?

CM Punk’s pipebomb from 2011 was straight to the point and cut deep for
every fan that’s ever watched it. He was passionate, he was blunt and more importantly, he was real. Everything he said had an element of truth, which made it even more satisfying. But WWE was no more in the dark about what
was going to happen that night than they were on the night that KO spoke
    his own truth.

This is not about one guy standing up and screaming for change. This is
about a company that bombards the audience with one McMahon Family
storyline after another and each one is more frustrating than the one
before. But the audience is so accustomed to it and so bored with it, that
even the slightest complaint from any Superstar is enough to turn it all
upside down. That is precisely what’s happened with Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon.

Fans are giving WWE credit for the move, when the fault lay only with the company from day one. But KO’s promo worked and it got Shane over even more as a heel so in that regard, it was a success. The audience is choosing to ignore the past and once again hail WWE as a worldwide brilliant booking machine. As long as that keeps happening, pipe bombs will forever be
dropped by one Superstar after another. Whether or not fans will keep
buying in, remans to be seen.

Cards Subject To Change. Paul Heyman And Eric Bischoff Get Some Great News Before They Take Over.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 05:44 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/cards-subject-change-paul-heyman-eric-bischoff-get-great-news-take/

The more things change, the more they change. Over the last few weeks, one
of the major talking points in WWE has been the additions of Eric Bischoff
and Paul Heyman as the Executive Directors of SmackDown Live and Monday
Night Raw respectively. While the two may not have the shows under their
full control and influence yet, they have both gotten one of the most
valuable things possible in their positions.

According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, all of the previous plans
for next month’s Summerslam have been been deemed subject to change so that Heyman and Bischoff can put together the show as they see fit. There is no word on what was originally planned for the show or what may still be
used. Heyman and Bischoff are scheduled to have full control of the shows starting next week.

Was told recently that anything WWE had planned for SummerSlam in advance
was all subject to change once Bischoff & Heyman fully start their roles
this upcoming week. Good on Vince & Co to allow a legitimate clean start.
No forced agendas off the jump. That’s how it should be.

WWE is certainly interested in something like this. Check out the official announcement of the move:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is a big break for the two of them as you can’t ask them to come in and try to make sense over everything that everyone else was
doing. Let them see what they can do and put together with the very
talented wrestlers that the company has to offer. What they’re doing here
is interesting and something that needs to be done. Now, that being said,
they still need to do it right, which is what makes it more complicated.

Which of the shows will do better? What do you expect at Summerslam? Let
us know in the comments below.

Thats A New One. Why Did Alexa Bliss Not Appear On This Weeks Monday Night
    Raw And SmackDown Live?

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 05:38 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/thats-new-one-alexa-bliss-not-appear-weeks-monday-night-raw-smackdown-live/

It’s a different kind of reason. Every now and then, people are going to miss a wrestling show for one reason or another. Sometimes someone needs
to miss a show because they aren’t in the best of health. It happens to almost every wrestler at one point or another and that was the case this
week for one of the more prominent names of the Monday Night Raw women’s division.

According to PWInsider Elite by way of 411mania.com, Alexa Bliss missed
both this week’s Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live due to a sinus infection. While Bliss did not perform on the show, Bliss did make an appearance for WWE and Connor’s Cure earlier in the day. At the moment, Bliss is still scheduled to challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s
Title on Sunday at Extreme Rules in a handicap match along with Nikki Cross.

Bliss can be intense when she’s healthy. Check out her setting up her
    match with Bayley last month:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: That’s quite the unique issue, but at the same time, Bliss is best known for talking rather than wrestling and given that she was going to be
in a contract signing, having her sniffling and sick would not have
worked. It seems to be the kind of thing that Bliss can overcome in a few
days and hopefully everything will be fine before she gets to the title
    match on Sunday.

How has Bliss’ latest run gone? Will she win the title on Sunday? Let us know in the comments below.

It Didnt Seem Right. Here Are The Original Plans For This Weeks Monday
    Night Raw Main Event.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 05:28 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/didnt-seem-right-original-plans-weeks-monday-night-raw-main-events/

So that’s how it was going to go. Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Cedric Alexander dressed up as a masked janitor to help Roman Reigns fight against Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon. This was quite the questionable
move as McIntyre kicked Alexander in the head and McMahon got the pin. If
this seems a little off, it’s because it wasn’t the original plan for the match.

According to PWInsider Elite by way of 411mania.com, the original plans
called for an extra performer to play the role instead of Alexander,
seemingly with the same ending to the match. There is no word on why
Alexander was put into the spot instead. However, there is a chance that there will be some form of followup to the angle, with McMahon and McIntyre doing something else with Alexander in the near future.

What a random ending. Check out how the match went down:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I’m still not sure I get the point of having Alexander pop up
under the mask and then be the one who goes out there and takes the fall.
If you don’t want to have him win the match then fine, but what’s the point in putting him out there, have him get in a good showing, and then lose?
I’m not sure how that helps anyone but McMahon, which has been an issue for
    a long time now.

What did you think of the angle? How would you have done it? Let us know
    in the comments below.

Watch: Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker From WrestleMania 32

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 12:23 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/derekstoughton/watch-shane-mcmahon-vs-undertaker-wrestlemania-32/

The Deadman and The Boss go to hell. WWE has posted a new video to their YouTube channel, in which they show the full match between The Undertaker
and Shane McMahon inside Hell in a Cell, from WrestleMania 32. This is to promote the tag team match between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns vs.
McMahon and Drew McIntyre this Sunday at Extreme Rules 2019.

You can see the match in its entirety below:
[This post contains video, click to play]

    From WWE.com:
As the opening bell sounded, Shane McMahon tried to go toe-to-toe with The Phenom, using his fleet-footed style to dance circles around his opponent.
The Deadman soon had enough and overpowered Shane with powerful strikes. He continued to dominate the contest early on, meeting all of Shane-O-Mac’s offensive flurries with the pure power and experience only the legendary
    Phenom could deliver.
However, even seven years since his last match, Shane proved he was as resilient as ever. The Undertaker tossed him repeatedly into the cell like
a ragdoll, and tried to end the bout with The Last Ride following a brutal
leg drop on the apron. Shane-O-Mac continued to resist, however, kicking
out of a pinfall. And when The Undertaker brought steel steps into the
ring, Shane responded once more, managing to lock in a triangle submission hold.
It looked as though Shane-O-Mac might make The Undertaker submit, but The Deadman countered with a chokeslam into the steel steps that made the
101,763 fans inside AT&T Stadium cringe. Shane again kicked out of a
pinfall attempt and barely rolled away as The Deadman missed an elbow drop
into the steel steps. Delivering an incredibly well-executed DDT onto the
steel steps, Shane seemed to finally have an advantage – that is, until The Undertaker locked in Hell’s Gate.
The WWE Universe waited with baited breath for Shane-O-Mac to tap out, but
an unbelievable reversal into the Sharpshooter left all of Dallas in shock. Though both competitors were left reeling, Shane managed to unleash a
flurry of strikes in the corner before retrieving a trashcan from under the ring. Realizing what was coming as Shane placed the trashcan on the Undertaker’s chest, the capacity crowd in AT&T Stadium rose to its feet as Shane-O-Mac leaped across the ring for a jaw-dropping Coast-to-Coast.
Still not enough to bury The Undertaker, Shane next found a pair of cable-cutters and removed the bolts on one of the cell’s panels. Whatever
he had planned was stopped short when The Phenomdrove Shane through the
loose panel of steel mesh onto the German announce table. The Undertaker
then dismantled the announce tables and devastated his opponent with
monitors before taking the battle into the crowd.
Setting up for a Tombstone through an announce table, The Undertaker was
caught off-guard with a sleeper hold. Just as he started to fade, The
Phenom found the wherewithal to leap through an announce table with Shane
still on his back, thereby breaking the hold.
Shane still managed to recover first, delivering two crushing blows with a toolbox and adding the exclamation point in the form of a monitor. With his opponent out on top of an announce table, Shane-O-Mac ascended the
monstrously high cell. The WWE Universe then watched in stunned disbelief
as Shane jumped off the cell to deliver an elbow drop.
Unbelievably, The Undertaker rolled out of the way, causing Shane to crash through the table and onto the stadium floor. Even more unbelievable,
though, was that the mangled McMahon continued to ask The Phenom to bring
the fight to him. With a look of pure shock at his opponent’s fearlessness, The Deadman carried Shane back into the cell. It was there that The
Undertaker – perhaps mercifully – delivered a Tombstone Piledriver to secure the win.

    Editors Opinion:

I was there live for this match and seeing Shane jump off the cell was
still one of the most memorable moments I have ever seen in person. You
knew the spot was coming, but it didnt matter; the atmosphere inside the
AT&T Center for that was incredible.

Brock Lesnar Works Out With University of Minnesota Wrestling Team

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 12:00 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/derekstoughton/brock-lesnar-works-university-minnesota-wrestling-team/

The Beast encounters a Gopher. Earlier this week, Brock Lesnar made a
special appearance at the wrestling facilities of the University of
Minnesota. He returned there, his alma mater, to lead a workout and morning stretch with their wrestling team.

You can see the official tweet about it below:

    https://twitter.com/GopherWrestling/status/1148258439782682630?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1148258439782682630ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wwe.com%2Farticle%2Fbrock-lesnar-trains-university-of-minnesota

Lesnar has been Mr. Money in the Bank 2019, since he won the briefcase at
the pay-per-view of the same name earlier this year. He has since teased in
a cash-in multiple times, but nothing has come to fruition.

    Editors Opinion:

This is a very cool thing. Its always nice the superstars return to their
roots and attempt to help the next generation of athletes. We all see
Lesnar has an unstoppable machine who has no regard for anyone but himself,
so seeing this side of him is neat as well.
