"Team Europa League" v the Europa Conference League holders.

Good atmosphere so far, but disappointing to see Roma fans throw foreign objects at Rakitic when he was trying to take a corner.

Roma's Spinazolla came close with a shot which was saved, not much other action of note so far.

    20 minutes 0-0.

    RM
Dybala put Roma 1-0 up on 34 minutes, a through ball found him in the penalty area, despite having two Sevilla players on him he managed to get a low shot off and find the back of the net.

So a Mourinho team lead 1-0 in a final, will they now just shut the door on Sevilla? Or will "Team Europa League" pull off another miracle comeback?

    42 minutes Sevilla 0 - Roma 1

    RM

45+5 Rakitic's long low shot from outside the area beats the Roma keeper...............but bounces off the post! Unlucky Sevilla.

To answer my earlier question, Roma are already playing like a team hanging on for a result in the last few minutes, eg all 11 players camped inside their own half. Hard to cheer for them as a neutral with that sort of negativity, it's a European final
for crying out loud and there's a whole half of football left.

    HT: Sevilla 0 - Roma 1

Yes. Sevilla is now cruising on the wings of enthusiasm, but I wouldn't be surprised if Roma were to strike again on the counter, or on a set piece.

Just seen a clear replay which shows a trip from behind, don’t see how that decision was wrong never mind a clear and obvious error.

To be fair, it's pretty obvious that Ibanez is able to toe poke the ball and make it change direction before his shin catching Ocampos' leg.

As FM predicted, Roma look dangerous from set pieces and very nearly equalised when Belotti got on the end of a free kick.

Pellegrini takes a quick free kick for Belotti, and his close range shot is deflected by Bounou's pinkie, just enough to drive it wide of the post.

What? It would have been a scandal if Roma had been awarded an accidental hand ball penalty after Sevilla were denied a seemingly perfectly valid penalty for a foul minutes before. If it helps none of the BT Sport commentary team thought the Roma “
hand ball” shout was a penalty.

We've seen those types of penalties awarded quite often since the introduction of VAR. "Accidental" is not part of the equation.

ther seems to be a lot of WWEpl rejects o these teams.

Roma were the better team until they scored, now itlooks like Sevilla ismore likely to score. my bet is pk,s

Yeah, not much is happening in extra time

119 minutes, Mourinho kicking off on the sidelines is about the only event of note in extra time.

I think Bono might have gotten a very slight touch on it.

Gonzalo Montiel, after scoring the winning penalty in the WC final, scores the winning penalty in the Europa League (on his second chance...)

You cannot beat Sevilla in the EL

I hate La Liga clubs. Not because they are the masters of shithousery, but because they so often win in Europe without being the better team.

But that said, the Europa League really is Sevilla's bitch.

Didn’t see the encroachment call, but indeed, he put the second penalty away and Sevilla win the Europa League yet again!

Sevilla undefeated in UEFA Cup / Europa League finals, Mourinho suffers his first defeat in a European final.

I started the evening neutral but Roma ‘s negativity after taking the lead combined with the penalty needlessly reversed by VAR were enough to recruit me into the Sevilla camp.
