How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G 2.0.1 with PwnageTool on Windows XP
If you have an iPhone 3G running iOS 2.0.1 and you want to jailbreak it, you can use PwnageTool, a software tool that creates custom firmware for your device. PwnageTool is available for Mac OS X, but you can also use it on Windows XP with some extra
steps. Here is how to do it:


Download PwnageTool 2.0.3 from here and extract it to your desktop.
Download the iPhone 3G 2.0.1 firmware file from here and save it to your desktop.
Download and install iTunes 7.7 from here if you don't have it already.
Connect your iPhone 3G to your computer and launch iTunes. Make sure iTunes recognizes your device and syncs it.
Right-click on your iPhone icon in iTunes and select "Back Up". This will create a backup of your data and settings.
Close iTunes and disconnect your iPhone from your computer.
Download and install Boot Camp Assistant from here. This will allow you to create a partition on your hard drive and install Mac OS X on it.
Follow the instructions on Boot Camp Assistant to create a partition of at least 10 GB and insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
Restart your computer and hold down the Option key until you see a boot menu. Choose Mac OS X from the menu and install it on the partition you created.
After the installation is complete, restart your computer again and choose Windows XP from the boot menu.
Copy the PwnageTool folder and the firmware file from your Windows desktop to a USB flash drive or an external hard drive.
Restart your computer once more and choose Mac OS X from the boot menu.
Plug in your USB flash drive or external hard drive and copy the PwnageTool folder and the firmware file to your Mac desktop.
Launch PwnageTool from the folder and follow the on-screen instructions to create a custom firmware for your iPhone 3G.
When PwnageTool asks you to connect your iPhone in recovery mode, plug in your iPhone to your Mac and hold down the Home and Power buttons until you see a yellow triangle on your screen.
PwnageTool will detect your device and ask you to browse for the custom firmware file. Select the file you created earlier and click Open.
PwnageTool will then restore your iPhone with the custom firmware. Wait until the process is finished and do not disconnect your device.
Your iPhone will reboot automatically and you will see a pineapple logo on your screen. This means your device is jailbroken.
You can now unplug your iPhone from your Mac and enjoy your jailbroken device.

Note: If you want to switch back to Windows XP, just restart your computer and choose Windows XP from the boot menu. You can also delete the Mac OS X partition if you don't need it anymore using Boot Camp Assistant.
