Nobody much reads or notices headlines in newspapers these days. As for red warmongering, Australia has always been aware of China as a threat, much more economically than of any physical threat. At the moment the Albanese government is attempting to
repair an icy period between the two countries, but I wouldn't say that ordinary people have any type of agenda against the Chinese, as they have established a solid presence here and are generally considered as valued and useful citizens. Our Minister
for Foreign Affairs Senator Penny Wong, herself an Asian but born here in Adelaide, is generally doing a good job wrt China.

The Chinese that come here now are never short of money, and if there is a slight criticism of them, they buy property here and help maintain and raise property prices. Which in this country, as in many others, leads to a manifestation of a shortage of
rentable/buyable property, and the introduction of tent cities recently.

But as for racism against Chinese citizens - nothing is happening outside of the normal xenophobes that inhabit most countries. Any consternation and racism might well be directed against China as a country, but not against Chinese citizens that live
    here.

In fact, I haven't observed much prejudice period. I don't doubt there

As an Australian, I have no idea about who is what in the Federal Republic of Germany, although I think it unlikely that Mutti Merkel was directly responsible for hospitals in Frankfurt an der Oder or the city police in Munich. I would, if required be
prepared to look such things up. So I was surprised to read that the then Federal Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, was being held responsible for public health administration in Queensland or policing in Melbourne. In this country, such matters are the
responsibility of the State and Territory governments. So whenever I read comments about Mr Morrison's being a fascist - usually misspelt - or a Marxist Leninist I could easily predict that utter rubbish was to follow.
Similarly it was interesting to watch reports in such intellectual cess-pools as Rebel News, and to compare them to what actually happened. One key word here was the use of the word "children" which was generally used to mean adolescents under the legal
age of adulthood (18 years) but was generally used to imply that the "Australian police" had been constantly firing rubber bullets at small children on their way home from primary school. One splendid report referred to children being physically removed
from their mother's arms by armed police and herded into a sports complex, where they were forcibly vaccinated, resulting in three children dropping dead on the spot. In reality, this was a voluntary free vaccination service offered to senior high school
students. The children who had been fired upom with rubber bullets were similarly adolescents participating in an illegal march in the middle of the Melbourne central business district, whose leaders refused to obey legal requests from the Victoria
    police.

The Covid KZ Lagers were set up by the State Governments in Queensland and the Northern Territory, with another I believe in Victoriaia. These proved to be something of a panic move, they were little used, and the governments responsible are now
scratching their heads about what on earth to do about it.

Incidentally, the states with the harshest COVID restrictions -Western Australia closed its border - were all run by the leftish of centre Australian Labor Party. In the case of Victoria, that party has been returned to government with an increased
    majority.
