Weak and watery UK teen pop from this one-record group from South London

The "Johnny Prendy" = John Barry producer is of course the same guy who later gave us the original James Bond theme plus other movie themes

"weak and watery UK pop" better describes one of Roger's UK
    likes, Helen Shapiro's "You Don’t Know" from 1961: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCNyAnpoUA8
14-year-old Shapiro came from the Victoria (Vicky) Park area of
Hackney, on the Parkside Estate, East London; her parents were
too poor to own a record player (she had to borrow a neighbor's
player to hear her first single). I believe Roger, at this time, lived
    in East London :)

By Helen Shapiro, I much prefer, greatly helped by the percussion,
    "I Don't Care": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIfe1eh2dfo

Shapiro's charting career was over by the time she reached 17 -
she appeared "old-fashioned and emblematic of the pre-Beatles era of
    the 1950s."

Roger, sadly, I think you have lost some credibility with your
    misjudged socio-political attack.

Clearly, 'Come On Baby' is not "weak and watery",
and even the ballad is substantial enough.

I'm with Roger on this one.

I don't know where your silly "socio-political" angle comes in with my very simple to understand opinion of the performance.

I leave that all that kind of background psychobabble to you as it seems to fascinate you so much

Correct! I lived at that time in East London--and in a worse section than Hackney BTW.Spending many happy years there

    Why is that relevant?

I assume you got the above info from Wikipedia in which case you should also have noted that AllMusic described her voice as "possessing "the maturity and sensibilities of someone far beyond their teen years"

"You Don't Know" was also a pretty strong song that would not have disgraced Brenda Lee
