Does anybody know if Ken Whiton is alright ?

I sent him a couple of emails the past couple of months, but haven't
heard back from him at all.

Why is it your saddest of days?

I don't see anything that happened on Nov. 12 that is all that significant.

Today is Remembrance Sunday here when at 11am the monarch traditionally leads the nation in mourning for those who died in two World Wars (and all the wars since) laying flowers at the Cenotaph memorial in the centre of London. Technically Remembrance
day itself was yesterday signifying the cessation of hostilities in WW1 that happened at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918

    the forerunner to this newsgroup,
    alt.rock-n-roll.oldies, was started in Aug 1993;

the earliest Ken Whiton post to a.r.o (that I can see, at Google
    Groups) is May 23, 1996:

Topic: Beverage Songs-Have a Drink On Me

"So far I've seen about eight or ten responses to this post, and I'm
somewhat surprised that none of them has mentioned:

Alligator Wine - (I don't remember if it was Screamin' Jay Hawkins or
Howlin' Wolf, but I'm inclined to think Screamin' Jay.)

Neil Diamond/UB-40 - Red Red Wind

Should that have been Red Red Wine?" -------------------------------------------------------------

Ken's last post to rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1950s was on

    Feb 26, 2023, 12:22 AM

briefly concerning the proper title for Chuck Berry's "The Downtown
    Train".

    -------------------------------------------------------------

The forever pleasant and helpful Ken Whiton passed away on
June 10, 2023, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

After serving in the United States Army for 3 years, Ken married Joyce
    A. Duval on August 2, 1969. (Ken, well known for his high level of
intellect, had a career as a company accountant)

Ken was predeceased by his wife, Joyce A. Whiton.

Ken was another one who posted here that was born in 1941. This made
me look back at posts from the early part of the century. Sure used to
be more names that were around here. I have forgotten more than I
remembered. Not many of us left. Made me a bit wistful.
