    https://rateyourmusic.com/release/single/the-delfonics/la-la-means-i-love-you-cant-get-over-losing-you/

Do you have anything definitive that says 1967?

    30. Don’t Let Me Lose This Dream - Aretha Franklin

Not a fan of this one, but I do like "Soul Serenade" a lot.

    34. She’s Leaving Home - Beatles

    What's going on here?

Roger with a Baroque Pop Beatles track in his top 40???

    42. 40 Days – 40 Nights - Don Covey & Goodtimers

Not a big fan of this.

    49. Fed Up With The Blues - O.V. Wright

B side that I also like a lot.

    55. I’ll Turn To Stone - Four Tops

    Their best track ever.

I'll get to the rest later.

It was reviewed at length in "Billboard" dated January 7 1967 so it really has to be a December 1966 release yes?

I have "La-La--Means I Love You" first released On Philly Groove NS-1001 in December 1967. This was on a green Philly Groove label which tho I don't have I have seen. I'm not sure but I think it may have been just a local Philly area release.

When Amy-Mala-Bell took over the record (and the label) for national distribution the record came out again on the regular Philly Groove 150 release that beccame the huge hit we all remember. That release was indeed in January 1968.

The only other place I see PG 1001 mentioned is "Soul Harmony Singles" by Jim Hunt and 2 others, and they have no date on it. Not on Discogs or in any price guide books I have. You may well be 100% right on the 1967 date, but I'm staying with '68 for now.

    Here’s my 1967 Top 100 favorites

    60. You Got Your Finger In My Eye - Willie Parker

Did not know it, 5-6 territory. I have two other 67ers by him that are better IMO. "Don't Hurt The One I Love" and "The Town I Live In."

    72. Hold On - O’Jays - I've got '66 on this from several sources. The Hunt book has 12/66.

    https://rateyourmusic.com/release/single/the_ojays/hold_on___working_on_your_case/

Discogs has '67. Looks like a real borderline one.

    85. Working On Your Case - O’Jays

Flip of "Hold On" so may be 1966.

    86. Heart And Soul - Incredibles

Did not have this for some reason, but now remedied.

    112. When She Touches Me - Mighty Sam

Did not have this version, too much violins and female chorus, but I'll keep it.

    MY 1967 LIST:

7 ¦ I Heard It Through The Grapevine ¦ Gladys Knight & Pips

IIRC you preferred this to the mighty Marvin version (#1 on tomorrow's list)

    19 ¦ Tears Of A Clown ¦ Smokey Robinson & Miracles

Motown sure waited a while before pulling this off the '67 LP----the single topped the charts on both sides of the puddle in 1970 and re-entered the UK chart in 1976.The song was a Top 10 UK hit all over again in 1979 in an uptown topranking version by
    The Beat

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1OVYFNUZT8

    20 ¦ Light My Fire ¦ Doors

I know it's sacrilege to say so in some quarters but I really disliked this group and their works

    30 ¦ Different Drum ¦ Stone Poneys

Enter Linda Ronstadt with a record that I liked quite a bit tho not quite enough to make my 1967 list. I rate it a 7

    77 ¦ Creeque Alley ¦ Mamas & Papas

This *just* missed my list---I really liked this autobiographical entry from the "California Dreamin'" crew

    79 ¦ Jimmy Mack ¦ Martha & Vandellas

We both have to move this one methinks....'twas on their Gordy LP "Watchout!" in 1966

Nope, the one on the album is a different version. It doesn't seem to be on Youtube, so I sent it to you.

Frankie C commented on your 1967 list.

Boy,Roger LOVES James Carr. Nearly everything he did made his lists. SUPERB list all around. Does he realize Lover`s Competition is different on the 45 than what the U.K.CD released. The U.K.version took the group out of the 45.

I don't hear a group on my mp3 of the James Carr. That single never came out here and I never had the Goldwax 45.

So you have the altered version from the UK CD. Here's the correct one from the 45 with the group.

I have 1968 on this. RYM says it was released January 17, 1969.
Do you have anything definitive that says 1967?

I have "La-La--Means I Love You" first released On Philly Groove NS-1001 in December 1967. This was on a green Philly Groove label which tho I don't have I have seen. I'm not sure but I think it may have been just a local Philly
    area release.

When Amy-Mala-Bell took over the record (and the label) for national distribution
the record came out again on the regular Philly Groove 150 release that became
the huge hit we all remember. That release was indeed in January 1968.
