• what do alternating semi circles sound like

    Hi.

Often it's possible in audio programs to create a pure tone by means
of a sine wave. Is there any way to generate a curve of alternating
semicircles to hear what that sounds like and how that tone compares
to the way a sine wave sounds?

Oh, I see wolfram alpha can do that:

    https://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=play+(-1)%5Efloor((1-2000t)%2F2%2B1%2F2)+(1+-+(1-(2000t)-2+floor((1-2000t)%2F2+%2B+1%2F2))%5E2)%5E(1%2F2)
