• New article on Beatle groupie Susy Thunder

Bits and pieces of this story have been posted on internet message boards including RMB over the years but now a journalist has tracked down Susy Thunder and interviewed her after years of seclusion. Claire Evans mentioned this in a new article in the
    Verge.

"She claims to be one of only three women to have slept with all four Beatles, securing the trickiest, Paul McCartney, through an elaborate pretext that involved having his wife Linda whisked away in a limo for a staged photoshoot. When she was still
underage, she hitch-hiked to Vegas with Johnny Thunders (no relation) from the New York Dolls. In a 1979 tabloid tell-all, she’s pictured with Andy Gibb, Donny Osmond, and Ringo Starr."

I wonder who the other two women are...You can see one page of the 1979 tabloid article where Ringo's name is mentioned plus her groupie business card.

Thanks for the link. I remember that we talked about Headley a bit last year.

She seems interesting enough. I wish she had substantiated her claim re: sleeping with each former Beatle.

She was born in the mid-60s, if I'm not mistaken. She would have been quite young indeed upon having these encounters.

"Susan Headley—aka Susy Thunder—claims to be one of only three women to have slept with all four Beatles. Oh, but this is not a story about that phase of her life, when she was one of the better-known rock groupies in California in the late 1970s. No,
the deep dive by Claire L. Evans at the Verge focuses mostly on what came after that, when Thunder emerged as one of the most prominent hackers in the burgeoning age of computers."

How would she know that exactly three women had slept with each of the Beatles?

I would love to know who they are. Obviously, none of these women could have slept with John after 1980.

But I'm having trouble figuring out how Susie Thunder would know about the exactly two others. Did each Beatle tell her about his groupie-shagging history? I doubt the guys even knew the names of each groupie he went to bed with.

I think it's all just a bunch of malarkey

I noticed that Susy Thunder is the same age and had a similar moniker as Lori Lightning (real name Lori Maddox) who was one of LA's teenage "baby groupies" along with Sable Starr. I wonder if she networked with them and other groupies. Susy has been
photographed with Ringo in a 1979 tabloid article and someone who worked at an LA radio station in the 70s said that he met her through Keith Moon (who was known to be a close friend of the ex-Beatles at the same time). I wonder if Keith was the one who
hooked them up. The three journalists she told Beatle stories to (Usenet poster mislindamac, Katie Hafner, Claire Evans) all think she's credible.

Pamela "I'm With the Band" DesBarres eventually met each Beatle but doesn't claim to have had sex with any of them. She says that McCartney gave her a look and asked if they had met before (they had not).

Here's more media. There's a video of Geraldo Rivera interviewing Susy Thunder on 20/20 in 1982. It's interesting to note that Geraldo also interviewed John and Yoko in 1972 and Paul and Linda in 1976.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CwUEAQ8TXQ

There's a May 21, 1984 Washington Post article about Susan Headley. It said she got into hacking at 17 after she dropped out of school, ran away from home and moved to LA to work as a waitress.

She's also mentioned in a December 27, 1989 Los Angeles Times article that alludes to her groupie days. "Her fascination is figuring out how to circumvent security systems, a talent she developed as a teen-ager at rock ‘n’ roll concerts," and "She
said she has inveigled free tickets for airline flights and concerts."

He interviewed them a couple of times, once in 1979.

His interviews with interesting people are fine, but does anyone really consider Geraldo a serious journalist?

This is all kind of before my time, but he definitely was a serious journalist during the time when he reported the situation at Willowbrook (which resulted in J&Y doing the one-to-one concert). That seemed to have been his breakthrough and also his
highpoint, after that it seemed to have gone downhill, quality wise.
