A celebration of the Portuguese Newfoundland connection forged over centuries of the cod fishery. Featuring Pamela Morgan, Duane Andrews, the Atlantic
String Quartet, and musical guests from Portugal.

The Portuguese have fished off the coast of Newfoundland for centuries. The White Fleet would often visit the port of St. John's to take on supplies or
to shelter from the weather. They were a welcome sight, bringing their music, wine, soccer, language and friendship. Relationships were forged and
treasured. We shared a common bond, hand-lining cod in some of the most dangerous waters in the world, always at the mercy of the elements, and we opened our homes and hearts to these windswept sailors from far away.
The White Fleet Suite is a tribute to those wooden ships and Iron men from those exotic and passionate times. It is a musical presentation highlighting our shared culture and history, with traditional and original music, song,
and poetry from NL and Portugal, and visuals from archival sources and
private collections.
Music composed and compiled by Pamela Morgan, orchestration and production by Duane Andrews, poetry by Agnes Walsh,

Os portugueses pescam na costa da Terra Nova há séculos. A Frota Branca costumava visitar o porto de St. John's para comprar suprimentos ou se
proteger do clima. Eles foram uma visão bem-vinda, trazendo sua música, vinho, futebol, língua e amizade. Relacionamentos foram forjados e valorizados. Compartilhamos um vínculo comum, pescando bacalhau em algumas
das águas mais perigosas do mundo, sempre à mercê dos elementos, e abrimos nossas casas e corações para esses marinheiros varridos pelo vento de
longe.
A White Fleet Suite é uma homenagem aos navios de madeira e aos homens de ferro daqueles tempos exóticos e apaixonantes. É uma apresentação musical que destaca nossa cultura e história compartilhadas, com música tradicional
e original, canção e poesia de NL e Portugal,e visuais de fontes de arquivo
e coleções particulares.
