Maybe a bunch of Democrats should pay attention. People want them to look
at our current problems, not witch-hunt. Like this morning’s column by a
NY times writer saying the Republicans are against the environment, because
not one voted for the Inflation Fighting Act. First, what has the IFA has
do do with the environment and 2nd, how could anybody vote for an act to
fight inflation that spends 3/4 of a trillion dollars more of taxes we
    don’t have?

    ===

People have written books on this subject. I'd recommend you start with authors John Bolton, Michael Cohen and James Mattis.

His biggest scam as POTUS began well before January 6. During the summer of 2020, well before election day, Trump realized that he was behind in the polls and began laying the groundwork for how he would handle his defeat in November. He began with his
unfounded attacks on mail-in ballots and illegally registered voters. After his losing election in November, he began his attempt to cast aspersions on voting machines and developing a strategy of intimidating state election officials into overturning
ballot results. This was followed with another scam attempt of developing alternate slates of fake electors with the goal of co-opting the electoral college certification.

Here are a few highlights taken from Wikipedia: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Room_Where_It_Happened)

    China

Trump asked Chinese leader Xi Jinping to help him win re-election, offering to reduce U.S. tariffs in exchange "for some increases in Chinese farm-product purchases, to help with the crucial farm-state vote."[18][19]
Trump voiced approval for the Chinese government's building of Xinjiang re-education camps for the Muslim Uyghur population.[19]
Trump refused to publicly criticize China's human rights violations and refused to issue a statement marking the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, saying "that was 15 years ago."[20]
Trump did not want to get involved with the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests saying "We have human-rights problems too".[20]

    Korea

South Korean president Moon Jae-in's ideas and positions regarding North Korea were "schizophrenic."[a]
During Trump's 2018 Singapore summit with Kim Jong-un, secretary of State Mike Pompeo passed Bolton a note characterizing Trump as "so full of shit" and also characterized Trump's diplomacy with North Korea as having "zero probability of success."
Without denying the specific allegations, Pompeo later denounced Bolton as a "traitor" and described the book as containing "a number of lies, fully-spun half-truths, and outright falsehoods."[21]
The 2018 North Korea–United States Singapore Summit was "South Korea's creation, related more to its 'unification' agenda than serious strategy on Kim's part or ours."[22]

    Europe

Trump did not know whether or not Finland is a part of Russia.[11]
Bolton confirmed the central accusation of Trump's first impeachment that he withheld aid to Ukraine in an attempt to pressure the Ukrainian government into announcing an investigation into Democrats, Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.[23]
Trump was unaware that the United Kingdom is a nuclear power.[11]

    Middle East

Trump told Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan that he (Trump) would "take care" of Geoffrey Berman's investigation against Turkey's state-owned bank Halkbank accused of bank fraud charges and laundering up to $20 billion on behalf of Iranian
    entities.[10][24]
Trump defended Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman after the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi to distract from Ivanka Trump's email scandal.[25]
Trump gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the green light to attack Iran.[26] In 2019, Netanyahu, Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo successfully sabotaged Trump's attempts to open diplomatic channels with Iran.[27][28]

    Venezuela

Bolton makes evident Washington's confused and vacillating policy towards the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, criticizing Trump for acting so erratically in policies on Venezuela. Ultimately, Bolton suggests, Trump's strategy was
only based on his personal agenda and reelection.[29][30]
Bolton tried to persuade Trump to endorse Juan Guaidó as soon as he declared himself president, but the president had doubts about Guaidó, whom he considered a "child" in front of the "rude" Nicolás Maduro. Likewise, Trump doubted that Maduro fell,
saying that he was' too smart and too hard'.[10][29] According to Bolton, Trump also suggested that Venezuela was part of the United States.[30]
Bolton claims in the book that Trump said it would be "legal" to invade Venezuela and that the South American country was "really part of the United States".[29] Bolton alleges Trump said it'd be 'cool' to invade Venezuela.[30]

    Cohen: https://www.newsweek.com/michael-cohen-donald-trump-mar-lago-fbi-search-secret-documents-1734546

Trump employed Cohen until May 2018, a year after the special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections began. The investigation led Cohen to plead guilty on August 21, 2018, to eight counts including campaign
finance violations, tax fraud, and bank fraud. Cohen said he violated campaign-finance laws at the direction of Trump and "for the principal purpose of influencing" the 2016 presidential election.

One thing about being from the NE is that you acquire a certain amount of skill for identifying crooks, scammers and frauds. Trump checks all of those boxes and more.

Maybe as head of Trump enterprises before becoming POTUS but what
did he do that was "crooked" or scam or commit fraud as POTUS?

    ===

He began with
his unfounded attacks on mail-in ballots and illegally registered voters. After his losing election in November, he began his attempt to cast aspersions on voting machines and developing a strategy of intimidating state election officials into
overturning ballot results.

Ultimately, Bolton suggests, Trump's strategy
was only based on his personal agenda and reelection.[29][30]
Bolton tried to persuade Trump to endorse Juan Guaidó as soon as he declared himself president, but the president had doubts about Guaidó, whom he considered a "child" in front of the "rude" Nicolás Maduro. Likewise, Trump doubted that Maduro
fell, saying that he was' too smart and too hard'.[10][29] According to Bolton, Trump also suggested that Venezuela was part of the United States.[30]

That's quite a list of accusations. The problem I have Wayne is that now-a-days we hear stories of his (and others) crimes or misdeeds just
about everyday and almost always another source will deny any of it is
true. So, who are you supposed to believe?

I have little faith in John Bolton. He has always struck me as being
of the mindset that only *his* views on anything deserve credit or consideration.

The other two authors you recommend (Cohen and Mattis) both have
a bone to pick with Trump. I've always respected Mattis as a
scholarly military man but he and Trump didn't see eye to eye
on much of anything and only one person can be president at a time.

For me, I have to simplify things because too many of the stories
seem to have contradictions associated with them.
    "Russia, Russia Russia" lives on.

So, in my simple minded evaluation I look at how the USA did
overall under Trump. No new wars. Booming economy. Energy
independence. Plus, he was beginning to crack down on
China's stranglehold on the USA brought to us by decades
of kissing China's ass. Getting NATO nations to cough up
    more of their share.

I don't think Trump is or was the most brilliant strategist
we've had as POTUS but many of his common sense policies appealed
    to many Americans.

Heh. I was going to ask if each of those books had a picture of a ground-up ax on the cover.

There are a number of books on all the presidents alleging all sorts of misdeeds. Many have quite
the checkered past and have abused their time in office (can you say Clintons?). Trump was no politician,
and he held nothing back, saying whatever was on his mind. That pissed off the political machine and the media,
but it was a refreshing change from the slick politicians that smile in your face while lying to you and stabbing
you in the back. And while I didn't like him personally, you simply cannot argue with the results he obtained.

He made two big mistakes... he should have stepped away from the twitter account and kept his mouth shut,
and as soon as Jan 6th started to go sideways he should have made a public statement to the crowd to stand down.
I don't think even he believed it would go that far. Apparently the Dems didn't either, or they wanted it to so they'd have
    the issue.

Who would I rather have in office now? The gas station, the grocery store... anywhere you spend money, along with the
stock market and the turmoil in the world should provide everyone with a clear answer. Are you better off now than you
    were 3 years ago?

That's an easy question to answer. Of all the crooked politicians, and I agree that there have been many, Trump is the only one who schemed and plotted to overthrow the peaceful and lawful transfer of power after a failed election attempt. As I've said
before, that is at the bedrock of our democracy and constitution. Trump has no respect for either, and his attempts to build a personalty cult of loyal followers is an ongoing threat to democracy. That is not an idle concern - it has happened elsewhere
    too many times.

I was just about to post this:

She'll be back. And she is a conservative republican, and always has been. Trump on the other hand was once a democrat until he sensed greater opportunity among the gullible.

Aside from the Jan 6th thing (which has yet to be judged) what exactly
did Trump do as POTUS that bothers you so much?

The closest to an answer I get is he was crass and rude. Trust me they
all are, based on what my BIL said and he was in the white house for
over 20 years. Scumbags like LBJ and Nixon just knew to act more
presidential when the camera was on. It didn't make them nicer, they
just looked nicer. A can't imagine anyone who did more
    unconstitutional stuff.

There are two things that are undeniable:

    1. harry would love you now.
    2. You typify the classic NE yankee transplant who thinks he is the only smart one in the room, and anyone that thinks differently and is from the southern or "flyover" states are just dumb and gullible. You know the ones. The ones that actually
produced something from their work. The ones that feed and sustain those left and
right coast limousine liberal folks. The ones that, if they cut you off, would leave you paddling that boat of yours around trying to feed yourself with the fish you hope to catch.

Sit down, be quiet, and buy some white socks. :)

    ===

    ===

He began with
his unfounded attacks on mail-in ballots and illegally registered voters. After
his losing election in November, he began his attempt to cast aspersions on voting machines and developing a strategy of intimidating state election officials into overturning ballot results. This was followed with another scam attempt of developing
alternate slates of fake electors with the goal of co-opting the electoral college certification.

    Middle East

Trump told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an that he (Trump) would "take care" of Geoffrey Berman's investigation against Turkey's state-owned bank Halkbank accused of bank fraud charges and laundering up to $20 billion on behalf of Iranian
    entities.[10][24]

Likewise, Trump doubted that Maduro
fell, saying that he was' too smart and too hard'.[10][29] According to Bolton, Trump
also suggested that Venezuela was part of the United States.[30]

The question was about his presidency and I haven't seen anyone before
or since who was any better with any of those countries you brought
    up.
Biden was just sucking Salman's dick the other day asking for higher
oil production so his democrats wouldn't look so bad in the mid terms.
Has anyone had a better China policy in the last 50 years? Pissing
them off just for the sake of pissing them off isn't going to be
productive. We all know, if they really want Taiwan, there isn't much
we can do about it without nuking them. Sanctions hurt us more than
    them.
Korea has been a cluster fuck since Truman. Has anyone done better?
Pressuring the Europeans to pay for their own defense was admirable.
We tried asking nice for 70 years.
I am not really swayed by disgruntled ex employees flogging a book, I
only look at the things that actually happened.
No new wars was refreshing. Trump is the first guy since Carter who
    can say that.
You can kill off Trump as seems to be your goal but you can't kill off
the dissatisfaction in flyover country that gave him 74 million votes.
Maybe your life in the Acela corridor has blinded you to that. Most of
the country is tired of being ruled by the people on the coast with
different views on policy and morals.
I would like to see a better candidate but trying to use the legal
system to eliminate candidates you don't like is as bad as anything
Trump did. Why don't democrats support free elections?
The best end for Trump would be another candidate who appeals to the disgruntled flyover voter more than him but these witch hunts just
make Trump stronger in his base. Remember Eugene Debbs ran for
president from jail and Mien Kamph was written in a prison cell.

So, what exactly is your beef with Trump. Trump has stepped on a
few toes in his time. So what. Who cares. Some of the offended
wrote books and expose's. Do you really expect to see much truth
in their scribblings? Being from the NE you are probably familiar
with crooked politicians, especially New Yorkers. So why is it
Trump is the sole benefactor of your ire and scorn. We're all
friends here. We won't judge you.
    --

    ===

That's an easy question to answer. Of all the crooked politicians, and I agree that there have been many, Trump is the only one who schemed and plotted to overthrow the peaceful and lawful transfer of power after a failed election attempt. As I've
said before, that is at the bedrock of our democracy and constitution. Trump has no respect for either, and his attempts to build a personalty cult of loyal followers is an ongoing threat to democracy. That is not an idle concern - it has happened
    elsewhere too many times.
In the eyes of conventional politicians ... both Republicans and
Democrats ... Trump pissed them *all* off because he actually tried
to drain the swamp. Mere mortals subject to the ways of Wash DC
    loved it.

Other than the true Trumpsters he really doesn't have many
friends or ally's left. They are going to get him one way or
another because they don't want him near the White House again.

He should accept that and go back to playing golf and building stuff.
    --

    ===

I agree with you on most of that. In my opinion, most of what Trump viewed as "The Swamp," are actually the checks and balances that were intentionally built into the federal government at its inception. Trump has no understanding or respect for that
structure and tried to tear it down. I think it is unlikely that he will ever get near the White House again but will continue to do a lot of damage to our political system through his grass roots efforts as a rabble rouser. That in turn has lead to
widespread belief in half baked conspiracy theories and an overall disrespect for governmental institutions. I offer up the recent attacks on the FBI as an example.

Another thing that is not widely understood is that Trump's so called financial success is actually a house of cards built on the use and miss-use of other people's money. That strategy is nearing the end of the road however and Trump knew it. There
are no major financial institutions in this country that will still lend money to him or his projects because of his past, well deserved, reputation for stiffing creditors. He was increasingly relying on eastern European banks and Russian oligarchs for
project financing which at least partially explains his coziness with Putin and disparagement of NATO. The recent arrest and conviction of his Chief Financial Officer may spell the end for his business empire. He will claim that it was a politically
motivated prosecution even though the facts are very clear and his CFO plead guilty today. Of course he will still maintain his multi-million dollar fund raising campaigns based on the pretext of fighting his election loss. That will hopefully
collapse also before he incites another insurrection.

amount of skill for identifying crooks, scammers and frauds. Trump checks all of those boxes and more.> Maybe as head of Trump enterprises before becoming POTUS but what > did he do that was "crooked" or scam or commit fraud as POTUS?===People have
written books on this subject. I'd recommend you start with authors John Bolton, Michael Cohen and James Mattis. His biggest scam as POTUS began well before January 6. During the summer of 2020, well before election day, Trump realized that he was behind
in the polls and began laying the groundwork for how he would handle his defeat in November. He began with his unfounded attacks on mail-in ballots and illegally registered voters. After his losing election in November, he began his attempt to cast
aspersions on voting machines and developing a strategy of intimidating state election officials into overturning ballot results. This was followed with another scam attempt of developing alternate slates of fake electors with the goal of co-opting the
electoral college certification. Here are a few highlights taken from Wikipedia: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Room_Where_It_Happened)China Trump asked Chinese leader Xi Jinping to help him win re-election, offering to reduce U.S. tariffs in exchange
"for some increases in Chinese farm-product purchases, to help with the crucial farm-state vote."[18][19] Trump voiced approval for the Chinese government's building of Xinjiang re-education camps for the Muslim Uyghur population.[19] Trump refused to
publicly criticize China's human rights violations and refused to issue a statement marking the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, saying "that was 15 years ago."[20] Trump did not want to get involved with the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests saying "We have
human-rights problems too".[20]Korea South Korean president Moon Jae-in's ideas and positions regarding North Korea were "schizophrenic."[a] During Trump's 2018 Singapore summit with Kim Jong-un, secretary of State Mike Pompeo passed Bolton a note
characterizing Trump as "so full of shit" and also characterized Trump's diplomacy with North Korea as having "zero probability of success." Without denying the specific allegations, Pompeo later denounced Bolton as a "traitor" and described the book as
containing "a number of lies, fully-spun half-truths, and outright falsehoods."[21] The 2018 North Korea–United States Singapore Summit was "South Korea's creation, related more to its 'unification' agenda than serious strategy on Kim's part or ours."[
22]Europe Trump did not know whether or not Finland is a part of Russia.[11] Bolton confirmed the central accusation of Trump's first impeachment that he withheld aid to Ukraine in an attempt to pressure the Ukrainian government into announcing an
investigation into Democrats, Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.[23] Trump was unaware that the United Kingdom is a nuclear power.[11]Middle East Trump told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an that he (Trump) would "take care" of Geoffrey Berman's
investigation against Turkey's state-owned bank Halkbank accused of bank fraud charges and laundering up to $20 billion on behalf of Iranian entities.[10][24] Trump defended Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman after the assassination of Jamal
Khashoggi to distract from Ivanka Trump's email scandal.[25] Trump gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the green light to attack Iran.[26] In 2019, Netanyahu, Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo successfully sabotaged Trump's attempts to
open diplomatic channels with Iran.[27][28]Venezuela Bolton makes evident Washington's confused and vacillating policy towards the government of Venezuelan President Nicol?s Maduro, criticizing Trump for acting so erratically in policies on Venezuela.
Ultimately, Bolton suggests, Trump's strategy was only based on his personal agenda and reelection.[29][30] Bolton tried to persuade Trump to endorse Juan Guaid? as soon as he declared himself president, but the president had doubts about Guaid?, whom he
considered a "child" in front of the "rude" Nicol?s Maduro. Likewise, Trump doubted that Maduro fell, saying that he was' too smart and too hard'.[10][29] According to Bolton, Trump also suggested that Venezuela was part of the United States.[30] Bolton
claims in the book that Trump said it would be "legal" to invade Venezuela and that the South American country was "really part of the United States".[29] Bolton alleges Trump said it'd be 'cool' to invade Venezuela.[30]Cohen: https://www.newsweek.com/
michael-cohen-donald-trump-mar-lago-fbi-search-secret-documents-1734546Trump employed Cohen until May 2018, a year after the special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections began. The investigation led Cohen to
plead guilty on August 21, 2018, to eight counts including campaign finance violations, tax fraud, and bank fraud. Cohen said he violated campaign-finance laws at the direction of Trump and "for the principal purpose of influencing" the 2016 presidential
    election.

    --

    ===

    --

    ===

That will hopefully collapse
also before he incites another insurrection.
Comments on each of your paragraphs:

    Paragraph one:

My opinion of what defines the "Swamp" is very different than yours.
To me, the Swamp is the inner circle of Washington elites who call themselves "public servants" but work hard to protect their own
interests financially and in maintaining their electability inorder
to further their personal gains and objectives. This is a pseudo
"ruling class" who's mantra is "more for me but not for thee".
Not all are guilty but those who are genuine rarely last long because
they lose their party's support for not "cooperating". Holding an
office for 30 or 40 years is not good for the country.

    Paragraph two:

Using "other people's money" to finance a business is the American way.
The concept is taught in college business courses along with marketing, distribution and finance. Ways to "raise funds" are as common a topic
as how to market your products or services. Very few successful
businesses are entirely self-funded. I have always felt good about
the way my small business was able to grow and employ more people
over the years without ever having any kind of outside financing.
I learned in a previous employment what can happen when banks and/or investment firms gain control of a business and I vowed never to
do that when I started mine. All growth was organic based on
profits. I realize not all business can do this due to the nature
of their product or services but it *is* possible.

Points taken and well stated. With regard to paragraph 2, I am well aware of how corporations are financed. The problem arises when there is no good faith effort to stay current with the terms of the borrowing agreement, or where the valuations of
assets are misrepresented or obscured. Then it becomes a shell game with constant litigation to keep things afloat.
