Wanting something a bit cheaper to run around in and easier to
    maneuver:

    https://www.carmax.com/car/23195286

It's already reserved, so don't any of you try to buy it out from
    under me!

Had a cardiac catheter ablation performed past Monday. All went well.
I know that pisses off Donnie, but what can I say? I got four free
ambulance rides since 1 June for SVT episodes. Shit - no more of
    those!

Oh, and the meningioma in the center of my cute little brain,
discovered about a year ago, has not grown. That means it's probably
not a cancerous tumor, which will really break Donnie's heart.

I'm going in Monday for a cystoscopy. That may well be followed by
prostate surgery of some sort. Been there and done that with pills.

About six months ago, I mentioned to my doc that the bottom of my feet
felt 'numb' or like one huge callous. He diagnosed peripheral
neuropathy, later proved by a nerve guy. Sorry Donnie, this is
probably not going to do me in any time soon.

Got a shot in the palm just below the left ring finger yesterday. Had
a bad case of stenosing tenovaginitis. That makes the six shot I've
had for that problem in the past 8 -10 years. So far no surgery has
been required. But the shot hurts like hell! No, Donnie, stenosing tenovaginitis is not fatal. Sorry!

The same ortho surgeon says it's not yet time to operate on the
Dupuytrens contracture which has been developing in both hands for
the past several years. Will consider surgery when I can't grasp a
steering wheel or golf club or any other thing you wrap your hand
around (grin!). Nope Donnie, not fatal either!

Second-to-lastly, the latest MRI showed that the nodules in each lung
are still right at 5mm in diameter. That is *really* good news!
They've been that size for about 20 years now. Sorry, Donnie. I'm sure
    you had your hopes up!

Binocular diplopia cause by a weakend extraocular muscle in the right
eye is a huge pain in the ass! The vision is correctable with prisms,
but the prism angle has exceeded Costco's ability to provide lenses.
That sucks. Lenses are now much more expensive. But, Donnie, this
condition is not life-threating either! Too sad. Biggly sad.

    There, now you know! :>)

John, you might want to do a little research on Carmax. I recently
saw a news report about a class action lawsuit because Carmax
reportedly was selling unsafe cars among other accusations
of fraudulent business practices. Worth checking, I think.

As to the rest of your "medical" reports ... sucks getting old, huh?
Glad to see nothing overly major or life threatening.

I have a mild issue with Dupuytren’s contracture also commonly
referred to as "Viking's Disease" because early investigation
led to a belief that it is most prevalent in people of
Scandinavian decent. That belief has been pretty much disproved
now-a-days but it is often still called Viking's disease.

My mild contracture affects my left pinky finger and I cannot
straighten it out. I can feel and see the tendon callouses that cause
it in my hand. Fortunately, all it really affects is my ability to play
a guitar which is no great loss because I could never play
very well to begin with. :-)

We had a CRV for several years. I assume they have fixed that
transmission problem by now. Other than that it was a solid vehicle. I
am still driving a 25 year old Honda so I don't have much to say bad
    about them.

Thanks for the info on Carmax. We've bought our last three used cars
from them and been very happy. But, if I take this one, I'll be sure
to have it checked over by my mechanic.

In my case, I'm sure the Dupuytren's is genetic. My grandfather,
Dutch, had it, but only in one finger - the pinky on his right hand.
Two of my brothers have had surgery to resolve the problem, but for
both brothers, the problem has returned. Other than the thumb and
index fingers, all the fingers on both of my hands have it. The raised
bumps sometimes hurt when driving, but I've found that good golf
    gloves solve that problem.

I've done several transactions with CarMax and they have both been very satisfactory. They typically give you 7 days to return the car for a full refund if you're unhappy with it. There was a recent report of problems with Carvana which is a completely
different company. Carvana was selling vehicles for which they did not yet have clear titles. This was causing huge delays in getting permanent registration (and titles) for the new owners.

I've done several transactions with CarMax and they have both been very satisfactory. They typically give you 7 days to return the car for a full refund if you're unhappy with it. There was a recent report of problems with Carvana which is a
completely different company. Carvana was selling vehicles for which they did not yet have clear titles. This was causing huge delays in getting permanent registration (and titles) for the new owners.

    Several or two?

No, Donnie, stenosing
    tenovaginitis is not fatal. Sorry!

The same ortho surgeon says it's not yet time to operate on the
Dupuytren’s contracture which has been developing in both hands for
the past several years.

I bet it is not as easy as just saying "come get it". It probably
costs more than renting one from Avis.

BTW the easiest car transaction I ever had was the "Ultimate Test
Drive" from Avis. That is not to be confused with going to an Avis
used car lot which is a typical used car dealer. (lots of fees and
    mystery charges).
On the two cars I bought the kids last year, they were identical and
off the lot it was $2k more.
The test drive deal is all done at a rental counter and the price
quoted is all you pay other than making the state tax man happy. It is
done on the phone with HQ and you just send them a wire for the price.
The title work is up to you if you want or you can pay them a hundred
or so. In Michigan it was worth paying them. In Florida it is 20
    minutes at the tax collector.
Basically you rent the car and if you buy it the rent is waived. You
have a few days to make up your mind, rent free, if you take it back.

30 days is very reasonable. I wonder how they protect themselves from scammers who just want a free car for a month.

I don't know about CarMax or Carvana but I know from my experience with
buying a new Nissan that eventually was bought back by them under the
Lemon Law, they charge a fairly hefty price for mileage. If I recall
correctly it was over 90 cents per mile.

I only had the Nissan for three full days before I returned it to the dealership but those three days of driving was expensive. They deduct
the mileage fee from the purchase price when they buy it back. They
also did an extensive inspection looking for any scratches or dents. In
my case they were also going to deduct for the owner's manual that the inspector couldn't find until I opened the center console and handed it
    to him.

It took three months after I returned it to the dealer for Nissan to
eventually give up and offer to buy it back. The problem was that
it had no heat. The dealer mechanics purged the lines several times,
changed the thermostat and control systems to no avail. Nissan sent
a regional mechanic who basically repeated the same things and then
determined the engine block was likely faulty (bad casting) and
Nissan shipped a new, entire replacement engine. It was installed
and again .... no heat. They gave up.

Im confused. Was it several or was it Two?

It's already reserved, so don't any of you try to buy it out from

Oh, and the meningioma in the center of my cute little brain,
discovered about a year ago, has not grown. That means it's probably
not a cancerous tumor, which will really break Donnie's heart.

I'm going in Monday for a cystoscopy. That may well be followed by
prostate surgery of some sort. Been there and done that with pills.

About six months ago, I mentioned to my doc that the bottom of my feet >> >> > felt 'numb' or like one huge callous. He diagnosed peripheral
neuropathy, later proved by a nerve guy. Sorry Donnie, this is
probably not going to do me in any time soon.

Got a shot in the palm just below the left ring finger yesterday. Had >> >> > a bad case of stenosing tenovaginitis. That makes the six shot I've
had for that problem in the past 8 -10 years. So far no surgery has
been required. But the shot hurts like hell! No, Donnie, stenosing
    tenovaginitis is not fatal. Sorry!

The same ortho surgeon says it's not yet time to operate on the
Dupuytrens contracture which has been developing in both hands for
the past several years. Will consider surgery when I can't grasp a
steering wheel or golf club or any other thing you wrap your hand
around (grin!). Nope Donnie, not fatal either!

Second-to-lastly, the latest MRI showed that the nodules in each lung >> >> > are still right at 5mm in diameter. That is *really* good news!

I have a mild issue with Dupuytrens contracture also commonly
referred to as "Viking's Disease" because early investigation
led to a belief that it is most prevalent in people of
Scandinavian decent. That belief has been pretty much disproved
now-a-days but it is often still called Viking's disease.

My mild contracture affects my left pinky finger and I cannot
straighten it out. I can feel and see the tendon callouses that cause
it in my hand. Fortunately, all it really affects is my ability to play >> >> a guitar which is no great loss because I could never play

Now the return period is 30 days. Sounds pretty reasonable.

30 days is very reasonable. I wonder how they protect themselves from scammers who just want a free car for a month.

Well, you gotta pay for it first!

30 days is very reasonable. I wonder how they protect themselves from scammers who just want a free car for a month.

I don't know about CarMax or Carvana but I know from my experience with >buying a new Nissan that eventually was bought back by them under the
Lemon Law, they charge a fairly hefty price for mileage. If I recall >correctly it was over 90 cents per mile.

I only had the Nissan for three full days before I returned it to the >dealership but those three days of driving was expensive. They deduct
the mileage fee from the purchase price when they buy it back. They
also did an extensive inspection looking for any scratches or dents. In
my case they were also going to deduct for the owner's manual that the >inspector couldn't find until I opened the center console and handed it
    to him.

It took three months after I returned it to the dealer for Nissan to >eventually give up and offer to buy it back. The problem was that
it had no heat. The dealer mechanics purged the lines several times,
changed the thermostat and control systems to no avail. Nissan sent
a regional mechanic who basically repeated the same things and then >determined the engine block was likely faulty (bad casting) and
Nissan shipped a new, entire replacement engine. It was installed
and again .... no heat. They gave up.

That seems like such a simple problem, I am surprised nobody could
figure out what was wrong. If water is coming out of the heater hose
port and going back into the block, you should have heat available at
the heater core. Something had to be plugged somewhere or maybe the
vents were not opening right and there was plenty of heat in the
system, it just wasn't being sent to the car. That might just be a
misrouted vacuum hose. A few minutes with an IR thermometer gun should
have tracked that down pretty fast.

I will say the "factory rep" may not be all they are cracked up to be.
On my Merc 60 outboard. I ended up diagnosing the problem down to
about 8" of pipe after several mechanics and the factory rep were
baffled. Some good old boy locally knew what was going on as soon as I
told him what I knew (bad connection from the water pump pipe to the
block). He fixed that and I put 3000 hours on it.
