I don't collect guns. I own a handful of firearms I use for informal
target shooting. The rifle depicted in this post isn't mine; I borrowed
it, although I will admit that I'd love to own one. Apparently, the
model I like is hard to find and is selling at a premium over retail,
and even .38 Special ammo is still very expensive.

    Bingo!
I'm still waiting to see if I get my non-restricted firearms license. I sometimes think a nice lever action like that would be fun to target shoot but doubt I'd use it much unless I joined a gun range in the area. The days of going out into the woods
are long gone unless you own a large remote piece of property yourself.

As it turns out, a buddy who lives about 10 minutes from here has a nice
bit of acreage and room to have a shooting range that's just about 200
yards cleared at the moment, but needs some work to extend it out that
far and farther, and his neighbors don't complain about the noise if
"created" in decent hours. Ammo, though, is still very expensive down
here in the uncivilized part of North America.

Those Magnum rifles are way more than what I'd want.
Guess I'd have to research easy availability and reasonable prices for the different caliber ammunition locally.

A dealer buddy says that model lists for about a grand but used to sell
for $850 to $950, but these days are virtually unavailable from dealers.
At auction, a new one might fetch $1500 to $1850.

    Bingo!
I'm still waiting to see if I get my non-restricted firearms license. I sometimes think a nice lever action like that would be fun to target shoot but doubt I'd use it much unless I joined a gun range in the area. The days of going out into the

Those Magnum rifles are way more than what I'd want.
Guess I'd have to research easy availability and reasonable prices for the different caliber ammunition locally.

Research this. Something you could handle, and the ammo should be in
    your ballpark.

Hurts my feelings? Don't you wish. For that to happen, I'd have to

Nice looking gun. Be careful, Donnie will start his derogatory
    comments about your gun collection!

I don't collect guns. I own a handful of firearms I use for informal
target shooting. The rifle depicted in this post isn't mine; I borrowed
it, although I will admit that I'd love to own one. Apparently, the

    Bingo!
I'm still waiting to see if I get my non-restricted firearms license. I sometimes think a nice lever action like that would be fun to target shoot but doubt I'd use it much unless I joined a gun range in the area. The days of going out into

As it turns out, a buddy who lives about 10 minutes from here has a nice

I had a Daisy that looked a lot like that one back in the day in New
Haven when I was 11 or 12. We had a nice, wooded hill behind the house
where I could set up various informal targets, including balloons.

Daisy heavily advertised when I was a kid in comic books. I don't recall whether you could order a BB rifle from the ad. Mine came from a local

Heh. Why am I not surprised? According to my Amazon account here's what
    comes up for this gun:

"This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please
    choose a different delivery location."

I can't buy ammo on line ... but a BB gun? Only in Massachusetts.

I had a Daisy that looked a lot like that one back in the day in New
Haven when I was 11 or 12. We had a nice, wooded hill behind the house
where I could set up various informal targets, including balloons.

Never owned a bb gun. At that age I had a single shot .22 that got
lots of rabits and squirrels, and one ground hog which, after
roasting, we all decided was too tough to eat.

Apparently, the
model I like is hard to find and is selling at a premium over retail,
and even .38 Special ammo is still very expensive.

    Bingo!
I'm still waiting to see if I get my non-restricted firearms license. I sometimes think a nice lever action like that would be fun to target shoot but doubt I'd use it much unless I joined a gun range in the area. The days of going out into the woods
are long gone unless you own a large remote piece of property yourself.

Henry makes some really sweet .22LR caliber lever action rifles, a wide
variety of them, and the ammo is a *lot* cheaper than either .357 MAG or
    .38 Special.

I had a Daisy that looked a lot like that one back in the day in New
Haven when I was 11 or 12. We had a nice, wooded hill behind the house
where I could set up various informal targets, including balloons.

Same here although I was a bit younger. My father was not into
guns at all and he resisted my pleas for a BB gun. He finally
caved under the condition that I attend a gun safety course
sponsored by the NRA given at a Scouts meeting.

I did the same, though my dad was a target shooter and a pretty good
one. I'm pretty sure I had some sort of Scout merit badge for shooting.
Dad had two offices at his store on the Post Road, one out front and one
in the back, and he had a pistol in a drawer in each desk, one a .45 ACP
and the other a really really nice .22LR High Standard. His was a
mostly blue collar trade, especially firemen and police, and since the
store was on the town line, the patrolling cops used his property to
make their wide turnarounds, which, of course, was fine with him. When
he died, I gave the .45 to a buddy of his and the .22LR to a different
friend. Wish I had kept the latter. Bill Ruger (yes, that one) was a
buddy of his and a customer, and when Bill stopped by on a weekend for
stuff for his boat, I got to park his car, a Porsche Speedster, but I
really had no idea who Ruger was. Another friend of dad's was Ted
Williams, who he hung out with at the big Boston boating and fishing
shows, where Williams gave casting exhibitions for Sears' sporting
goods. A third "partner in crime" was the Native American who played the
Indian for the Shawmut Bank for a while. I don't recall his name.
Shawmut did my dad's floorplanning in the 1950s.

Never owned a bb gun. At that age I had a single shot .22 that got
lots of rabits and squirrels, and one ground hog which, after
roasting, we all decided was too tough to eat.

I've never hunted or shot at an animal on a hunt. I have accompanied
"hunter buddies" on their hunts but somehow I made enough noise
thrashing through the woods to warn the animals, if there were any
around. I have a lightweight 7.62x39 bolt action rifle a couple of
friends like to borrow when they "hunt," but as far as I know, there are
no imaginary notches in its butt.

So they had you flushing quail. Cool.

latter. Bill Ruger (yes, that one) was a buddy of his and a customer, and when Bill stopped by on a weekend for stuff for his boat, I got to park his car, a Porsche Speedster, but I really had no idea who Ruger was. Another friend of dad's was Ted
Williams, who he hung out with at the big Boston boating and fishing shows, where Williams gave casting exhibitions for Sears' sporting goods. A third "partner in crime" was the Native American who played the Indian for the Shawmut Bank for a while. I

I count three folks with the surname Grear and one with the
surname Krause living in Karen's house. If she invites a couple
more Grears to live with her you'll have to sleep in the garage
or under your back porch. Not only can I read, I can count too. I
can also teach you how to avoid bankruptcy, loan defaults, tax
leins and such. Solvency isn't really that hard. You just need to
learn how to make more than you spend or spend less than you
    make.
By the way, when you belittle the United States Navy you are
proving that you are as hateful of the United States as the
    O'bamas and the Bidens are.

Heh. Why am I not surprised? According to my Amazon account here's
what comes up for this gun:

"This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location.
Please choose a different delivery location."

I can't buy ammo on line ... but a BB gun?  Only in Massachusetts.

I had a Daisy that looked a lot like that one back in the day in New
Haven when I was 11 or 12. We had a nice, wooded hill behind the house
where I could set up various informal targets, including balloons.

Same here although I was a bit younger. My father was not into
guns at all and he resisted my pleas for a BB gun. He finally
caved under the condition that I attend a gun safety course
sponsored by the NRA given at a Scouts meeting.

The NRA sanctioned our BB gun program at a day camp I went to when I
    was about 8-9.

Never owned a bb gun. At that age I had a single shot .22 that got
lots of rabits and squirrels, and one ground hog which, after
roasting, we all decided was too tough to eat.

I've never hunted or shot at an animal on a hunt. I have accompanied

thrashing through the woods to warn the animals, if there were any

Hunting is bad, but loaning a guy a rifle to kill a poor, unsuspecting
deer is okay? What an enabler!

Wonder if he had them fill out a 4473 and go through a FFL before he
"transferred" that rifle. It is the law in some of those northern
states. That is part of Biden's "universal background check". Any
"transfer" is the same, whether it is a sale or a one time loan

Under Federal law, I may loan a firearm to a resident of any State for >temporary use for lawful sporting purposes, if I don't know or have >reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or >possessing firearms under Federal law.

What does Md State say? Sounds like a "transfer" to me. https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Legislation/Details/SB0208?ys=2020RS That federal law would have changed making your "loan" illegal too if
the NRA had not lobbied against the DNC "universal background check"
    law.

Probably loan it to another left wing psycho. Who will use it in another

Wonder if he had them fill out a 4473 and go through a FFL before he
"transferred" that rifle. It is the law in some of those northern
states. That is part of Biden's "universal background check". Any
"transfer" is the same, whether it is a sale or a one time loan

Under Federal law, I may loan a firearm to a resident of any State for
temporary use for lawful sporting purposes, if I don't know or have
reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or
    possessing firearms under Federal law.

That could get a Massachusetts resident in hot water under state law.

I can only transfer possession, sell or gift a firearm to another
MA resident and only if I have assumed the responsibility to
*confirm* the recipient is not only legally authorized to
receive it but also has shown and provided me with his/her
long gun or LTC permit number.

Haven't done it in a while, so I don't know if the rules have
changed but at one time all the above could be done on-line.
MA wants to know where the guns are and who has them.

Until recently, a Maryland resident could legally transfer a long gun to another Maryland resident without bothering with an FFL. That apparently
has changed. Years ago, when I sold a semi-auto pistol to a Virginia
resident, I called the Staties there to find out the procedure and was
told I could go through an FFL if I wanted but they didn't care one way
or the other. Dunno if that has changed.
