• Olympic Viewership - A damn shame

    From John H@21:1/5 to All on Sun Feb 13 16:11:01 2022
    Olympic viewership seems on the verge of hitting record lows. A lot of
    the blame is being shoved onto China along with a host of other
    reasons. It's almost like Hilary Clinton with her 25 reasons she lost
    the election.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10507409/NBC-exec-admits-difficult-Olympics-Beijings-week-slides-record-lows-2018.html

    Well, I have the solution. First, NBC should publish a schedule of
    when, what, and on what channel the events will be shown. Secondly,
    they should increase the time devoted to Curling from about 75% to at
    least 95%. I'm sure viewership would skyrocket!

    I suspect someone has been working on tailoring your olympic watching
    to just what you want to see. I am pretty sick of Ice Skating.

    ===

    Ice skating is one of the easiest events for TV crews to cover.

    Not difficult at all if you can keep the camera men and commentators from falling asleep. :-) Ultimately it all comes down to sponsorship ad revenue and that is driven by perceived viewer interest.

    Depends on the ice skating. Ice dancing? An Olympic sport?
