Yesterday, I plugged in my Garmin Fenix 5x watch for a recharge, and
it did not start charging. I cleaned the contacts as I usually do when
it has trouble charging, but it still would not charge. I've had
experience with devces that wouldn't charge, so I tried one more
trick. I let the battery discharge completely, and this morning, when
it was dead to the world, I plugged it in again. A couple hours later
I checked, and it was up to 50%. eventually fully charged. I wore it a
while and when it had drifted a bit, I put it on the charger again to
see if it start charging. It did.
Lesson: Let a device battery discharge completely, and maybe it will
cure itself
I the meantime, I've ordered a new one. They were on sale. The Fenix5X
is 5+ years old. It's not going to last forever.
