Hello all,I used these and never had a problem. Why would you be using riser bars instead of a riser stem?
I recently had to replace my pair of Shimano Acera ST-EF510 combined
brake levers + trigger shifters <https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/product/component/acera-m3000/ST-EF510-9R2A.html>.
I know Acera is not really top quality, but they lasted about 50
megameters :-), which is long enough for my satisfaction.
Unfortunately, they do not do these combined levers + shifters anymore,
at least not with 2-finger levers, so I bought a pair of brake levers
and a pair of Shimano Alivio SL-M3100 trigger shifters <https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/product/component/alivio-m3100/SL-M3100-R.html>.
Now, things got a little more complicated by the fact that these
shifters are only designed for flat bars. And when I say flat, I mean
really flat, without any rise at all. As I discovered, they will not fit well even on a low-rise bar, like this for instance <https://www.bikester.fr/cube-rfr-riser-accessoires-pour-cintre-o254mm-640mm-5-M124203.html>.
Indeed, these triggers have indicators located below the bar, about 3 cm closer to the stem. This is exactly where a risen handlebar is curved.
As a result, their contact with the bar limits their installation to
unusual angles. You eventually end with brake levers far too high to be comfortable. By the way, it looks like Shimano are reproducing the same buggy design for their new CUES system.
So, I am now looking for alternatives, and it looks like I will not find that in Shimano catalog. I want to keep using trigger shifters, either push-pull or push-push, with an indicator. There seem to be two manufacturers making shifters compatible with Shimano indexing: SunRace
and microSHIFT. For instance:
https://sunrace.com/product/dlm903-r9/ https://www.microshift.com/models/sl-m759-3/ https://www.microshift.com/models/ts39-9/ https://www.microshift.com/models/ts38-9/ https://www.microshift.com/models/ts71-9/
Is anyone here familiar with such shifters, or with these two
component manufacturers?
