Finally, the stem saver tubes for the new wheel's schrader drilled rim
got here, so I could install the rim tape. When I first put the new
wheel on the Catrike, I noticed that it was a little out of round.
Once I trued it and got the rim tape was on, I transferred the
cassette and the tire from the old wheel to the new wheel, and got it
on the Catrike and the derailleur dialed in. The Catrike is ready for
a ride.
Now I can separate the old rim from the old hub and spokes, and can
proceed with rebuilding the old rim. I've only laced a wheel once
before, and that was only to replace a badly bent rim, using the same
spokes. This rebuild will be with the old rim and a new hub and new
spokes.
I could measure the old spokes, which should be exectly the same as
what I need for the rebuild, but I'll wait and use my own hub and rim measurements. It's important for me to go through all the steps of
building the new wheel from scratch.
