Hey you know it all jerk [...]
May I relate a story? (That's what's known as a rhetorical question.)
Once upon a time, I was a soldier in the Vietnam War... we were
sitting around on a bunker someplace, doesn't matter where. I had
been downrange about four months which made me an old-timer even
though I was better than six months south of nineteen... OK, I'm gonna
get to the story.
There was some nitwit there who was playing with a detonator cap &
clacker; I kept wishing he'd put the damn thing away because there was
this little voice in my head that was repeating: "There ain't nuthin'
good gonna come of this!" The nitwit was explaining to a brand new
kid that you snapped down on the clacker *really* hard and the det-cap
got hot. Now, I knew how they worked (and that wasn't what happened
at all); however, I didn't want to be called a "know it all jerk"
because I have sensitive feelings, you know.
Anyway, a couple of seconds later, the nitwit handed the det-cap to
the new kid and said: "Feel it?" ... and we were showered with blood,
bone, and pieces of the kid's finger.
Well, sir... after that, I just decided to live with it... if I see something really stupid going on, I speak up; get me drift, good
buddy?
