"Following surgery, Alex suffered with unexpected post-operative anaesthetic complications which
led to respiratory failure, a known but uncommon complication. He was re-intubated and transferred
to intensive care for support."

Any reason for not quoting the next bit (the good news part)?
"He made excellent progress overnight and was able to be removed from mechanical ventilation yesterday morning. He has now been transferred
to a general ward and is expected to return home tomorrow. There were
no other complications.
Alex’s full focus is on recovery and preparation ahead of the
Singapore Grand Prix later this month."

Yep. As an academic I'd have thought you'd understand the concept of an 'extract'. I gave the URL for anyone to read the whole article
themselves if they so desired.
"He made excellent progress overnight and was able to be removed from
mechanical ventilation yesterday morning. He has now been transferred

I hope that the FIA have noted Alex' reaction to (standard) anaesthetic
in case of emergency.

Singapore Grand Prix later this month."
I wish Alex all the best. He's a very good driver and deserves to be in
F1 IMO.

I'm curious as to how you know what exactly happened and precisely what anaesthetic was used...
I'm curious
How does he know it was "standard"?

I always taught my students not to give an extract that leaves a
possibly wrong impression as yours did, that Albion was still in IC.

Then you do better than most academic literature sites I've found. They
give an abstract that leaves me with more questions than answers and
then expect me to pay to read the whole article. At least there was no paywall with this site, you could just click to read it. Heck they don't
even make you accept cookies.
Don't be misled:
"they don't even make you accept cookies."
doesn't mean that they aren't using cookies.
