NovaBBS seems to be where Googler's on other Usenet groups have
migrated to.
To be honest, I won't miss the spam. There's 29 names in my Bozo Bin,
only three of them are not @gmail.com e-mail addressees...

Well, gee, it is a good thing that no one with an @gmail.com address
can po= st to Usenet with anything other than Google Groups.
Things will be so great for you guys once GG cuts off Usenet access,
becaus= e all of its users are stuck on Google's server, and there is

servers left and ruin tho= se too.

It's evidence that a lot of people are just using the Google Groups
service to spam Usenet. A proper news service - in theory -
wouldn't let that level of abuse happen from it's registered users.
Things will be so great for you guys once GG cuts off Usenet
access, because all of its users are stuck on Google's server, and

Of course they can, and some will. A proper news service might be a
bit more helpful towards [proper] abuse complaints than Google
generally was though... unless of course the SpamTroller also happens
to run his own nntp server and is the news admin that is supposed to
stop his users from spamtrolling Usenet!
RIP RADW.
More like RIP Google Groups! RADW will survive.
In fact, I wouldn't think RADW is going to look much different than
it does today. Come the start of "Season One" in May we'll probably
have the same sort of 'discussions' here that all the other recent
episodes of "Doctor Who" have provoked.
How can you not want to be part of the madness?! ;-)

No need to go down with the ship dude... I can throw you a life-belt
if you choose to use this newsreader [as it's what I use] ...
anything else, I may not be much help. Although IIRC Thunderbird and >MicroPlanet Gravity were simple enough to set up when I did use them.

It's only a 2.55MB download, easy to use, and easily configurable,
with it's own support newsgroup.
It's your choice, I'm just saying there's options.
That is the price that you pay for throwing
the babe out with the bathwater,
I understand your point, especially as you are a responsible user of
the Google Groups service... but nobody here on RADW is responsible
for what Google decided to do. Sure, I might not be crying over it
and Dave might have sent in a few complaints about Tim as well as
written about Google Group's users abuses of Usenet in a blog, but
Google wouldn't have decided to disconnect from Usenet because of a
blog by Dave on NetKnow! The big spamflood of the comp. groups last
year and the resulting complaints is the more likely reason, or one
of them anyway.
Remember me, when I am gone. In the end, all we are is the
memories of us that left behind.
At least you have a thread named after you now, so that will live on
in the archive forever! Fame at last... :-)
