In addition to the season premiere, the WarnerMedia-owned
network has announced that June 20 will now officially be known
as Rick and Morty Day, an out-of-this world celebration of the
Emmy-winning series packed full of sneak peeks,
behind-the-scenes footage and special surprises across TV,
digital and social medias, all kicking off with the premiere.
The series is an award-winning half-hour animated comedy
centered on the sociopathic genius scientist Rick and his
inherently timid grandson Morty, both voiced by co-creator
Justin Roiland (Solar Opposites), as they go on increasingly
dangerous adventures across the multiverse, much to the dismay
of Rick's daughter Beth and the rest of her family, similarly
timid son-in-law Jerry and teenage granddaughter Summer.
Alongside Roiland, the cast for the series includes Sarah Chalke
(Firefly Lane) as Smith family matriarch Beth, Chris Parnell
(Saturday Night Live, Archer) as Smith patriarch Jerry and
Spencer Grammer (Tell Me A Story) as Summer.
The fourth season kept up the series' tradition of big name guest
stars, including" Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Sam Neill
(Jurassic Park), two-time Golden Globe winner Kathleen Turner
(Romancing the Stone), Oscar winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit),
Golden Globe and Emmy winner Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), Emmy
winner Pamela Adlon (Better Things), two-time Emmy winner Justin
Theroux (The Leftovers), Emmy nominee Christopher Meloni (Happy),
Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise), two-time Golden
Globe winner Paul Giamatti (Billions), Emmy nominee Matthew
Broderick (Daybreak) and Elon Musk.
Rick and Morty, co-created and executive produced by Roiland and
Dan Harmon (Community), will return for its fifth season on
Sunday, June 20 at 11 p.m. EST on Adult Swim!
