• Jaguar vs Volvo: A Contrast

From BTR1701@21:1/5 to All on Fri Nov 22 22:11:41 2024
This is the latest ad from Jaguar.

Not sure what they're advertising there but cars don't seem to be included

In contrast, while Jaguar is pushing debauchery and they/thems, Volvo just put out the most moving, pro-family, pro-life ad of all time. And it even has cars in it:

Something tells me that their ad is going to sell a lot of Volvos and
Jaguar, which has apparently been in dire straits for years, is very
close to going down the drain. Its new ad is NOT going to help....

By the way, I noticed that Brett Cooper was pretty scathing about the
    Jaguar ad too:

I knew that they were changing their logo for some reason but that ad
is strange. It's not at all what I would think a Jaguar purchaser
would like. So I'm not even sure who would like that as a car ad.

Volvo at least is sticking to what they have been known for, safe transportation that ideal for families.

Some nonsense to do with moving to only making electric cars - the
roaring big cat logo doesn't fit with their new quiet greeny image. :-\

The ridiculous font they've chosen has a mismatch of upper and logo

Technically it's not a "car ad", but a "company rebranding ad",

than we wasted huge amounts of money paying morons in an advertising
agency to come up with this garbage", but that's the same for 90% of
adverts these days. Most adverts try to be "clever" and "arty-farty",
and fail miserably since they don't tell you anything about the actual
product (and no, having people talk about how awful your advertitsing
is, is not a good promotional exercise).

Turns out there's a reason for that commercial. Apparently what they
were selling wasn't selling so they are trying to reinvent the
company. The ad is their (strange) way of starting to do so. As part
of this plan they aren't selling any cars now as they work on what
will sell and redesign their entire product line.

It's a strange approach to reinventing the product line but I guess if
they truly weren't selling any cars (or enough to cover their costs)
then stopping production while they redesign and retool makes sense.
I just don't get what they think that ad is going to do for them. It's
going to be forgotten long before they have any new cars to sell.

There's a lot of monopolizing hiding behind the term
"consolidation", and it wouldn't be a surprise to learn
that the advertising industry has it too, just like
other industries. There is already monopolizing in internet
advertising by a joint venture of Google/Facebook, and I
wonder if TV advertising likewise has monopolist advertising
agencies, perhaps companies are being extorted to purchase
services from particular "woke" advertising/public relations/promotion companies.

"advertitsing" describes a lot of ads though not necessarily
here. The woke don't like tits.

Like usual, the video.twimg.com links don't contain any
description to put things into context: is one of these
ads, the transy one, intended for the USA and the other one,
    too long to watch, wasn't?

It would be interesting to research and compile all the
"woke" branded hate filled advertising to find out the
advertising agencies responsible for them, to see if there
    are patterns.

To me it reminds me of a Bentley or Rolls Royce with that blocky
design. They are going to have to alter it quite a bit from that
design to have something that will sell.

To perhaps match the silly advert, the concept car is in a disguting

Yeah, that's likely the reason for the color. Still trying to show
their split from previous designs. Though if it has no connection with
the previous history of the company why would someone buy this over
    any other.

The new Nissan Z is a good looking car. Much better than the previous
three ugly fat-ass models (300ZX, 350Z, and 370Z). You can always
change the wheels via third-party / after-market retailers to pretty
    much any colour you want.

Unfortuantely the Jaguar is heavily modified / more squared, but has
the same sort-of shape to it - long bonnet / hood, hatchback-style
rear, square front air intake. Maybe more of a hideous off-spring of a
Nissan Z and a Tesla Cybertruck. Of course, this Jaguar is just a
prototype, and the actual go car that goes on sale (if any) usually
    ends up looking very different.
