• [OT] We Will Dance Again

From Rhino@21:1/5 to All on Mon Oct 7 22:28:19 2024
Paramount+ recently released a documentary about Oct 7 called We Will
Dance Again so I decided to commemorate the horrific events of that day
    by watching it today.

The film looks at the events of the day through the eyes of survivors of
the Nova Festival, all young people under 30. A party that began with
the jubilation of being young and alive and with close friends listening
to music that they loved was soon disrupted by rockets, rifles, and
grenades wielded by terrorists of Hamas. The footage is a mix of things
filmed by the festival-goers and other shots taken from the body cams of
the terrorists. The sheer glee on the part of the terrorists as they
broke through the Gaza border to begin the rampage is staggering: you'd
think they were going to the biggest, best party of their lives.

There is a strong warning at the beginning that the film will contain
brutal violence and horrific scenes. This is no joke. I watched it all
and am left with only two things: rage toward the cowards who committed
these horrific acts and pain in my heart for the festival-goers, both
the survivors and the good people who didn't survive.

The interviews make it clear that each of the survivors was deeply,
deeply scarred by what they saw. Some of them said outright that they
know they will never be the same but I know this must be true for each
and every one of them. Who could experience something like that and NOT
    be changed?

Most of the survivors reminiscences are in Hebrew (with excellent
subtitles) but some are in excellent English, in case you're wondering.

This is a film that should be shown to each and every one of the idiots
that marches on behalf of Iran and its proxies on the college campuses.
Maybe it would help some of them see how people very much like
themselves were murdered by people who are very much UNLIKE themselves.
That might help them get their moral compass back. Then again, I suppose
some would just rationalize even the contents of the film and claim it
    was still justifiable.
