• What Did You Watch? 2024-05-07 (Tuesday)

From Ubiquitous@21:1/5 to All on Wed May 8 04:30:40 2024
    I watched:

THIS AGED GREAT! EPISODE 1: PORKY'S:
Every Monday, stand-up comedian Ben Moore defends a movie from the past that hasn't aged well while explaining the plot to his much younger friend Jordan Elias (who hasn't seen it). Hilarity ensues. https://youtu.be/V2ZvKLYN1Xk?si=emDMRRuFNyJH_BZI

THIS AGED GREAT! EPISODE 2: MYRA BRECKINRIDGE:
Stand-up comedian Ben Moore defends a movie from the past that hasn't aged well, while explaining the plot to his much younger friend Jordan Elias (who hasn't seen it). Hilarity ensues. https://youtu.be/SES9VP_On6k?si=u4AziMBtzUfxjKFo

THIS AGED GREAT! EPISODE 3: SOUL MAN: https://youtu.be/nw38P33gCag?si=b33G_y3YsPIeza6k

ABSURD MET GALA NUDITY, AND THE DISASTROUS KARDASHIAN EFFECT ON OUR CULTURE, WITH BUCK SEXTON:
Megyn Kelly is joined by Buck Sexton, co-host of "The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show," to talk about near-nudity on the Met Gala red carpet, the disastrous Kardashian effect on our culture, men wearing dresses and the end
    of masculinity, and more.

FILM THEORY: 3 *DEADLY* TRUTHS ABOUT THE STAR TREK TRANSPORTER:
Today we boldly go where no theorist has EVER gone before: into the Star Trek transporter. While it seems like a fun sci-fi invention that transports you
to and from planets into the Enterprise, it is the furthest thing from fun!
In fact, we believe the transporter would KILL you. Please, don't beam us up, Scotty!
    https://youtu.be/iw46KQuaG9A?si=ElElCQ8OqkvAn_zf

    VANDERPUMP RULES:
"May the Best Woman Win". Ariana finally breaks down over the end of her relationship with Tom; Katie and Schwartz vie for the affection of the same woman.
It's about freaking time, Arianna! I don't remember much else, but the three-some with Katie, Schwartz, and Cori(?) seems a bit contrived. I don't know, Jo and Schwartz seem like a cute couple.

    VANDEPUMP RULES:
"How'd You Like Them Apples?". A podcast rehashing the past sends everyone spiraling; Scheana releases a new song; Lala takes the next step toward expanding her family; Ally and James have a tough conversation; Scheana and Sandoval clash over a perceived betrayal.

Oh no! Everyone's upset about what Rachel said about Sandoval!

Nice to see Schemer is still trying to milk "Good as Gold" for all its worth. Who the hell was that cover band making the video? At least she wasn't
twerking in her bedroom on top of her bed this time! So, she made a new song and for some reason thought it was clever to put a Rachel reference in it?

The less said about LaLa's "Jizz party", the better. Even bawdy Lisa Vanderbucks seemed appalled. Why does everyone assume they can hold their parties at her house? It seemed a bit presumptive for LaLa to have already arranged for everything before asking.

I think there was more but I cannot be bothered.

So Ann was fired? To be honest, their house didn't look much less dirty to
me, but I did enjoy all the footage of their habitation looking like a
pigsty. Leave it to Sandoval to hire a male assistant who looks like him! lol

    VANDERPUMP RULES:
"Jax Attack". Ariana invites her boyfriend, Dan on the group's upcoming trip
to San Francisco. Katie is accused of spreading cheating rumours about Jax. Scheana's attempt to apologise to Sandoval goes south when he throws a past indiscretion in her face.

    VANDERBUCK RULES:
"For Old Tom’s Sake". Lala celebrates her 33rd birthday with a sexy burlesque party. Ariana and Katie give Lisa an update on the status of Something About Her. Schwartz reconnects with Jo after their friendship breakup. When the
group flies to San Francisco for a party, Scheana urges Sandoval to offer Ariana a genuine apology. Schwartz makes Katie an indecent proposal.

I was paying more attention to tracing my hardcopies of software coding,
but here are some thoughts and observations.

    • The scenes with Tom helping his backup friends seemed highly contrived.
I was suspicious at the one being labelled as "so-and-so's friend".

    • I had totally forgotten about the girls' fake sandwich shop. Sounds like
they're having to deal with a lot of red tape. Say, did S&S ever open? ??

    • Jo makes an appearance, just in time for this season's mandatory vacation.
I thought it was funny that she was going too.

    • What the hell was LaLa wearing, a Fifth Element cosplay?

    • Dan looked better on webcam than in person. All I could see was his horse
    teeth!

    • Why did Dan fly in from NYC but seemingly spent no time with Ariana?

    • I have no interest in Sandoval's lame band. Next!

    • San Fran looked lovely, but I am guessing it's because they had a poop map.

    • Was there an obligatory fight at the end of the ep? I can't remember.

    • Gawdamn, just how many commercials do I have to see with Arianna in them?

    VANDERPUMP RULES:
"Plot Twist". Scheana performs live for the first time with her band; Katie clashes with Jo over a year's worth of grievances; Ariana takes Dan to lunch with her friends; the fourth wall is left shattered when Tom approaches Ariana for a conversation.

Zzzz... oh, I must have fallen asleep! This was definitely an underwhelming "finally" that ended with a lame sad musical montage.

    • Was Schemer performing in San Fran? I thought they were, but what was
Billie and the girl Sandoval dated once doing there?

    • I am angry at Katie for being a bitch to Jo. Ditto for her asshole friend
who was dressed like a giant banana and called Jo a crackwhore when she
    approached.

    • Nice latex shirt, Brach.

    • LaLa broke the 4th wall about Ariana's attitude, but there was a good
amount of projection in her rant.

    • Did Ariana tell the producer her biggest beef with Sandoval was that he
    gave her VD?

    • I could have sworn I saw someone (Billie?) throwing a chair at Schemer's
    performance in the season preview.

This is so true. Hell the only scene from "Star Trek: The Motion
Picture" that really sticks with you is the terrifying transporter
    malfunction scene!!

    What did you watch?

For the first time in a long time, I did no work yesterday afternoon and evening, and just took it easy... So I watched:

    soaps: All caught up.
GH - Two episodes. Not much important happened. Willow accepts the
job with Drew (I think this is Willow's third job in three years - do
not hire this ditz! she will leave you in the lurch!!), and then Drew,
for Nina, arranges that Willow be interviewed by Crimson. Alexis freaks
out when NuKristina uses the words "my baby", and worries to Diane that
her daughters are destined to go to war over this baby! - Diane wisely
counsels Alexis to stay the hell out of it!! Anna seemed to talk Dante
out of quitting due to his concerns about being Sonny's son. Carly
expresses her concerns about Sonny to Jason, and then eavesdrops on
Agent Jagger Cates talking to Jason about Sonny and Pikeman. Best bit
was Laura once again talking at the prison to Heather Webber who is now
no longer crazy and completely remorseful for her crimes.
DOOL - Victor's will executes, and when Maggie declares that she
intends to give away nearly all of her fortune! Constantine nearly blows
it by objecting - Sarah and esp. Xander didn't buy Constantine's
explanation. Marlena and John explain to Steve (Black Patch!) how
they've figured out how to fight the "Pawn programming", and that they
set-up Constantine, and that Maggie's prenup isn't destroyed afterall!
Brady informs NuTheresa that Alex and Kristen are hot-and-heavy(!) now,
and I think Theresa realizes that she has no chance with Alex anymore.
But that's OK - Constantine is going to roll over on her when he's
    busted anyway!!

My Father's Murder in Greece - I recorded this off LMN back in March,
and finally got to it last night. I didn't pay this close attention, so
as a result I really couldn't follow the details of it!
On the plus side, it looks like it was actually filled in Greece
(and most of the cast are Greece actors).
Cass Huckabay stars as the blonde American with the Greek father
(Vaggelis Papadakis). The father and his estranged brother battle. That
night, the father turns up dead (the daughter finds him). Police quickly
rule it "heart attack", but the daughter is convinced there was an
intruder and it was *murder!*, but of course no one believes her and
thinks she's just a hysterical American girl.
Eventually, the girl's mother (Lifetime staple Maeve Quinlan) shows
up, and she doesn't believe the daughter either... at first.
    Wacky mystery-solving hijinks ensue!!
There are a couple of idiotic twists towards the end which really
curtailed any enjoyment of this. I think both "Her Deadly Night in
Paris" and "The Venice Murders" are better than this one.

Ack. I saw this in the theater. It’s not defensible.
The only good few seconds is when Farrah Fawcett rolls over in bed and her
left breast. You could hear the entire audience exhale. You’d have to wait for Saturn three to see the right breast.

    What did you watch?

    Hey, thanks for asking!

STARGATE INFINITY SGI (the “I“ stands for: INFINITY!)
The rather inexplicable animated spin off
It takes place 30 years in the future, although they don’t say the future
of what but assuming it’s air date it takes place right about now, as for reasons unknown some cadets go through the Stargate and can’t find their
way home. They have alien friends and foes, and for some reason, make first contact with an ancient who is a chest booster from alien. There’s a
horrible theme song that is supposed to explain the premise, but I can only understand about half the words.

    https://youtu.be/qIUcZifFLQE?si=LenSypSIyGk2FMzt

Well, Mr. Google comes through again

    https://genius.com/Unknown-artist-stargate-infinity-theme-song-lyrics

Built by ancients so long ago
The Stargate laid till we broke the code
Now it takes us through the universe
On our mission to get back to Earth

We are hunted and on the run
    And together, we overcome
    Fighting evil through the galaxy
    Stargate Infinity
    Infinity
    Infinity
    Infinity
    Infinity

I like how they use infinity, galaxy, and universe interchangeably,
literally decimating the meaning of all of them.

The pilot episode was as much as I could stand. Even though it wasn’t
enough to explain the series format. I don’t think I need to watch episode two that badly.

HIGHLANDER THE ANIMATED SERIES, TAS ( the “TAS” stands for: THE ANIMATED SERIES!)

It’s been 700 years since the Earth was plunged into darkness. They don’t tell us what the starting date was though. Now there are immortals riding around on Taun-Tauns. Somehow, all the immortals have given up their immortality by taking the pledge, although this hasn’t in any way shape or form relieved them of their immortality. Teenage redhead Quentin McLeod is
on some sort of mission to defeat the last evil immortal although every
time they come face-to-face, he runs away. He is mentored by another of
those Mexican outer space alien guys and has the most annoying kid sister
    ever.

Major change to the mythos: nobeheadings! Instead, they sword fight a
little while until one guy loses, and then they hold their swords upright
and rub them together until they climax electricity. And, yes, it’s every
bit as homoerotic as you think. Then somehow Quentin Doesn’t get the knowledge yet, he won’t get it until after he defeats the bad guy when it’s too late to do him any good.
Also, they talk about the quickening, but I am not sure what they mean
except that it’s clearly not what the quickening was in the movies or TV show.

Oh, yeah, apparently you don’t have to die to become immortal in this version.

You can watch it in the wrong aspect ratio, so everybody is short and fat
    on the Freevee.

    Hey, thanks for asking!

STARGATE INFINITY SGI (the “I“ stands for: INFINITY!)

HIGHLANDER THE ANIMATED SERIES, TAS ( the “TAS” stands for: THE >>>>>> ANIMATED
    SERIES!)

Thanks for taking the hit - I'll be passing on both of these!...  ;p >>>>
Hey!  I took the hit on both first!!

But you refused to take screencaps!!  ;p

    Like Anim's going to!

Shall you tell him, Ian, or shall I?

Ya, ya, I know, you used to make the stuff I make screencaps of. Not
the same. *gets on a stepladder to point his nose even higher* *sniff!*

I posted a link to the first episode over on Vimeo.

Which one? Just so we know why we hate you now.

Stargate Infinity. Never looked for the Highlander anime but I
wouldn't be surprised to find it over there too.

Oh, was that you? I wasn't expecting it and had no idea why anyone
would send me something like that so it got the spam treatment and went
    into the bit bin.

At any rate after watching two more of the Highlander Animated episodes
(for a total of 14) Wednesday the stupid just got to be too much and I'm stopping watching it.

    Lol

Easy News makes storyboards like that so you can preview the file without downloading it.

I left it running overnight, but I think I fell asleep without ever seeing
the last one. I don’t know if there’s any sort of conclusion or not. The articles on Stargate infinity SGI all say that it ended without anything
    being resolved.
