"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share with you the news our beloved Larry passed away in his sleep overnight. We are shocked and at a loss for words at the moment. Please remember he loved each and every one of you and wouldn’t want you to
cry over his passing. He is reunited with his wife Norma and his beloved F Troop cast and so many friends and family."

That would suggest that when it comes to names that are truly familiar to Americans over a certain age, the oldest ACTOR man is now...

    Dick Van Dyke, at 96.

(The only two older men - reasonably famous, that is - seem to be Norman Lear and Bob Barker.)

I think you're right about that. The most recognizable actresses are
probably Eva Marie Saint who was born a year after Mr. Storch or maybe
Glynis Johns who was born a year before.

I saw "Ghost Busters" as a little kid - and yes, I thought the gorilla was real.

(Ironically, for such a silly show, there was one tiny bit of welcome realism in it - gorillas are, in fact, gentle animals!)

    I didn't see "F-Troop" until my mid-teens or so.

"Yes, and Columbia Pictures ended up having to pay Filmation $500000 to use the Ghost Busters name and 1% of the profits from the Ghostbusters movie."

And, a whole episode - plus some very familiar commercials! One is narrated by Casey Kasem.

I was surprised to see that the actress in the episode is...Dena Dietrich, better known as "Mother Nature" from Chiffon margarine!

I had no idea there had ever been a TV show with that title. I was assuming Larry Storch must’ve been in the Bob Hope/Paulette Goddard movie.

Which, come to think of it, was Ghostbreakers. Never mind.
