FYI, So far, I've prepared 3 state 1040 returns for Maine and each time when
I get to the error checking, it reports that it needs the degree pursued,
when the person graduated and what state for the Maine Sch. A - Itemized Deductions.

In no instance did I try to get Student Loan payment relief as these folks
are haven't any loans to discharge and haven't for years.

I would report this error to the company, but I don't have the time to chase that rabbit hole as they don't want to know what their software users have discovered.

To get around this glitch, I put in a degree and the date and state they graduated in. This solves the error and then Sch. A doesn't get printed. I tried deleting the form, but it just kept coming back like the Phoenix.
