    One man's hot is another man's warm. Do you know the temperature at the surface? A non contact thermometer would be useful for this. Offhand, anything under 70°C is of no concern (my opinion).

    One aspect of Apple's wall warts is the finish. Smooth white plastic is
    not a great thermal dissipator/radiator.

    IAC, these devices protect against overload, so there is likely no issue.

    if the normally white power adapter takes on an orange or reddish tint,
    then you know it's too hot.
