I keep wondering if these increases are included in the average wage calculations. Thea Fed and other economists keep freaking out
over average wage increases driving up inflation, but the settlements
in union contracts that make the news seem to near and often below
inflation. The only wage driven inflation I see seems to be in executive
    pay.

Some time ago one famed investor, Stephen Jarislowsky
commented that you can't sensibly spend more than
    a quarter million or so.

"You can't even spend $5 million!" He rattled off some of his annual expenses: family purchases, travel expenses and so on: "About $250,000,
and that's it. Take my word for it."

It's not about spending, but taxes.
Even if you own a business, one thing is how much the business make and how much executives make.
The more cash is taken out of a business as salary, the more taxes has to be payed to the Fed and state.
Of course, high taxes can be offset by spending on things that tax deductible, to a certain degree.
