    I should add:

    Since the Constitution is the basis for Federal government authority, if
    it were suspended, then the Federal government would have no authority,
    at all, except maybe whatever they can get at gunpoint.

    OTOH, if the Federal government has no legal authority, they couldn't
    require payment of Federal income taxes. :-/ Kind of tough on States
    whose income tax is tied to people's Federal tax.
