    hi,

I started with translating for german via ddtss. I lke perl, so the
modules I reviewed/translated are about perl.

now I found one module, carton, which is noted on https://ddtp.debian.org/ddt.cgi?desc_id=130923 as not

translated to german. But I did not get it on https://ddtp.debian.org/ddtss/index.cgi/de.

    why does this happen?

It would be great, to get active German translators for the DDTSS.
There is only minor activity at the moment.

The URL you mention lists 2000 translations as to-do, and that's the
limit. The system doesn't show more, even if there are more than those
    2000 untranslated.
It simply does not make sense to show 4000 or 6000 packages in that list.
Which packages are shown is decided by some sort of priority, I think it's based on the popcon score (a value that shows, which packages are used
by how many people; see <https://popcon.debian.org/>).

If you are interested in some specific packages, scroll down to
"Fetch specific description", type the package name, check the
"Force fetching even if not untranslated" checkbox and press Enter.
You will get the package you want for translation.

It would be fine, if you could spend some time to review some of the
packages from the "Pending review" list though.

Currently for German we need at least two people to review a package description, to get it accepted by the system.
So, just one active person cannot do translation work at all!
And it seems to me I'm the only active German translator currently :-((

where do I find this option?

    on

    https://ddtp.debian.org/ddtss/index.cgi/de

there is no option like this, only the list of

pending translations and reviews and the reviews and translations I have
    done.

You will get the package you want for translation.

so, now we are two :) and progress will hapen

    hi Holger,

thanks for your answer. it is good to know the reasons otherwise

I would think there is something broken.

Yes, I do reviews too. Where do I find more about the review process?

Do you know details about charing/merging the packet descriptions from
    Debian

and Ubuntu? They have a separate tool named 'launchpad' where also the translation

of packet descriptions can be done. in my opinion it would be great if
    both take profit

    from each other.

    I only know this page:
    <https://www.debian.org/international/l10n/ddtp.en.html>
a general info page about the DDTP.

I seems even problematic to get such system running at all (that includes
the decision which system to choose, find people who do the work, and apparently a translation system is considered unimportant for many
people, so only few contribute to such approach).

I cannot say how difficult or easy it is, to set up a launchpad system
for Debian, or if this is possible at all.
