Juk started to behave a bit weirdly for me when adding a new directory to play so I closed it using the "File > Quit" menu option and it closed. But now when Juk is started it fails to show its window and appears to be hanging and needs to be killed.

If the "~/.config/jukrc" file is deleted then Juk starts and shows its window but all the menus (File, Edit, Player, etc) are disabled and clicking on them has no effect.

Vlc still works and plays audio files as it should.

    Any ideas? Thanks

Identical versions here. Sad to say (from your PoV) all works correctly.

What happens if you move the ~/.local/juk directory out of the way?
It's possible the databases therein have become corrupt.

Beyond that, I have no idea. Sorry.

Deleting the "~/.local/share/juk" directory resolved the issue. All of my setup is gone but at least Juk can start normally.

    Thanks for your help.

(hence "move out of the way", not "delete", if you did that you would be
able to try finding the exact problem)

I didn't delete it right away and still have a backup copy but it just looks like the two binary files in that dir got corrupted and not much can be done other than to delete them and start afresh. For example, deleting just "~/.local/share/juk/cache"
    would not resolve the issue.

The problem is that Juk is a flaky app with a lot of issues (many of which go unresolved for years). But still it kind of works.
