• Duodisk card

Does the Duodisk use a special card? Is it compatible with any other 5.25" floppy controller card?

The DuoDisk uses a card that looks pretty much the same as the Disk II card with the exception of sporting a db19 connector. It’s the same card that’s used with the daisy-chained 5.25” drives. My earlier production one is labeled I/O Controller
while my later one is labeled 5.25 drive controller. Both have the part number 655-0101

By the way, does the DuoDisk work with the IIgs smartport?

Yes, with some caveats. Mine does, but if I remember right, there were some things I had to check first to make sure there would be no magic smoke
    released on power-up.

This note suggests that the DuoDisk doesn't play well with ROM 3 IIGSes:

The Duodisk can be used on the IIgs but can cause problems with other daisy-chained drives. Apple recommended a resistor be removed from the DuoDisk before using it on the IIgs
