The week of March 13th, 2017 brings the DCD / DatacenterDynamics
Enterprise Conference and events to NYC (see below). Keeping
with that Data Center theme, the March 2017 Unigroup meeting
will be on Data Center Structured Cabling Trends.

Unigroup has a couple of interesting meetings in the works on the
following topics: The Latest C/C++ Standards, The State of the C++
Ecosystem, High Performance Computing Clusters, Fiber+Copper
Network Cabling Infrastructure/Standards.

Unigroup's scheduled meeting topics are:

Peter Helfrich R.C.D.D. D.C.D.C.
Leviton Specification Engineer International

Peter has been providing consulting, design, product selection
and project oversight to the network infrastructure industry
for over 30 years. Peter has extensive experience designing
cabling systems, WiMax and WiFi deployments, security systems,
audio-visual systems, and data center solutions for large and
small organizations. Peter currently works with Leviton Network
Solutions as a Specification Engineer focused on supporting
design professionals who work on global projects.

Since 2012- Peter is part of a team of skilled Specification
Engineers at Leviton Network solutions, all of whom carry RCDD
credentials. Leviton Specification Engineers provide support to
Consultants, Architects, Specifiers and IT professionals who
design network infrastructure for global projects. Leviton SEs
are a valued resource providing product specifications, technical
support, educational seminars, and design assistance. Leviton
Specification Engineers also liaison to the entire Leviton Network
Solutions support organization including our people and resources
around the world. Specification Engineers have a minimum of 15
years industry experience.

Prior to 2012- Peter was a business owner and entrepreneur
ultimately holding the position of President of a multi-million
dollar ICT equipment supplier, cable assembly manufacturer and
field services organization. Peter was a partner in this
organization for over 20 years and was integral to the growth
strategy. During his tenure at this organization he oversaw the
sales and implementation teams in the areas of structured cabling,
wireless technologies, network hardware, security systems and
Audio Visual systems.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University
of New York. Peter has held the prestigious BICSI Registered
Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) credential since 1993.
Peter also holds the DCDC Data Center Design Consultant
certification from BICSI achieved in 2016. Peter has garnered
numerous manufacturer training certifications in the areas of
cabling and networking during his career.

and its members pay a yearly membership fee. For Unigroup members,
there is usually no additional charges (ie. no meeting fees) during

5. UNIGROUP INFORMATION
--------------------

Unigroup is one of the oldest and largest Unix User's Groups serving
the Greater New York City Regional Area since the early 1980s.
Unigroup is a not-for-profit, vendor-neutral and member funded
volunteer organization. Unigroup holds regular and special event
meetings throughout the year on technical topics relating to the
Unix/Linux/BSD Operating Systems and User Communities. Unigroup
meetings tend to be focused towards System Administrators, Network Administrators, and Software Developers.

Unigroup holds regular meetings planned for (at a minimum) the Third
THURSDAY of Odd Months. We generally try to hold Field Trip or
Vendor Specific Meetings on the Even Months, although we do have the
ability to hold monthly meetings at our regular meeting location.

Planned regular meeting dates are (usually 3rd Thursdays):
03/16/2017, 05/18/2017, 06/15/2017, 07/20/2017, 09/21/2017, ...
Also watch for Special Event meetings and "Field Trips" to the
facilities of local hardware and software vendors.
