I ordered an MPU Grab Bag from Jameco for $20, to see what was in it. Here's
a list of the DIP components. There were 6 or 7 SMD components that I didn't bother to identify, because I'm not that into torturing myself.
Many are in the grab bag because they're surplus or discontinued. The Programmable CRT Controller had a copyright date of 1974 on it. So if you wanted to build some kind of retro thing out of old chips...
I also bought an LED Grab Bag ($7) that had different shapes, sizes, and
colors of LEDs in housings that looked like they were designed for some particular purpose for which they were no longer needed. They're straight-up LEDs and were all either Red, Green, or Yellow. Most were the usual domed-cylinder LED shape, but some were rectangular cuboids. Some were mounted by themselves, some were mounted in groups. All of the leads were intact; they had never been used.
