I use Fletcher Music Center ( https://fletchermusic.com/ ) but the closest to California is in
Arizona. They offer lifetime free lessons if you buy from them.

Not sure who you can use that offers free lessons.

I would like something where I can make software synths. I think the goal is to:

a. Learn how to play the music keyboard.
b. Something with software sounds galore. I know I'll have to buy a library of good sounds. I dont expect to be Martin Ware or Martin Gore (eg: of Heaven 17/Human League or Depche Mode), but I would like to get there.

Yeah man, check out something like the Native Instruments Komplete series. I use one of their A-series keyboards. It comes with a ton of software. There are tons of other options though.

I liked it because it has normal sized keys. I don't play very well, but mini keys don't help. And some popular controllers, like the Akai MP series, use those tiny keys.

It's fun. I've never had any music lessons, but I've always enjoyed playing music and learning to play songs I like.
