Mystic used to prefix messages with "Re:" automatically for me, but
recently I've had to manually add it to the title.
I have a feeling there's probably an easy solution to this that I've
missed, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.
So...what am I doing wrong?
Your not doing anything wrong. There is a setting in your message area settings to add Re: to replies (down near the bottom).

It looks like it's broken. I just checked my config and it's been setup that way, and still won't append the "Re:" to the subject.

Not really broken, but if Re: is already there it won't add it. It only adds it when replying in the normal BBS, not by using mail, news, or
other clients; Only from mystic's own internal message editor.
I've been relpying on the BBS, and it's not appending a "Re:" to the
front of the subject line. I am using the fullscreen editor, but that shouldn't matter.
It doesn't add the Re until you save them message, so you won't see it
in the full screen editor where it shows the subject.

That makes sense. We're all pretty used to seeing the Re: when we hit reply, so it's a little odd not to see it. Thanks for letting us know!
Yeah its a little different than the way most things work. But since Mystic allows editing the subject from the FS editor, adding it first allows the user to remove the "Re:" even when the Sysop configured it to be added. So to prevent the user for removing it Mystic adds it when saving.
The same concept exists for things like the [ANSI] prefix. If Mystic added it while the user was posting the message, they could simply
remove it and troll some of the FidoNet people who lose their minds if they see an ANSI message. :)
Interesting. I need to read up on the FS editor, and figure out how to edit the subject and stuff. I've gotta figure out the spell checker too, but that's just me being lazy on my spelling. lol!
The spell checker is pretty easy to install.
On my slackware box I needed to create a symlink called /usr/lib64/libhunspell.so that pointed to /usr/lib64/libhunspell-1.3.so.0.0.0.

Ok, that could be funny to watch! LMAO! I don't understand it though, I like ANSI's and the cool stuff being made these days. Is the [ANSI]
prefix added if Mystic detects ANSI is in the message? If it does, I
don't know of any other BBS software that automatically labels ANSI messages like that, and that's pretty cool.
Yes, it (optionally) adds the ANSI prefix if it detects an ANSI message. It can be enabled or disable in the configuration.
There wasn't any BBS software that could handle ANSI messages in the way that Mystic did until recently and people were complaining about having
no way to filter them or skip over them. The [ANSI] prefix on the
subject was a way to allow people to just skip those messages or delete them.
