Lightning bolt python script

I wanted to share a success, give thanks, and ask further questions.
So the success is that I managed to make a Python lightning-bolt animation script, which I now use as an interstitial in a couple of places (e.g., hit
'm' to go to the message menu, and it does, but first flashes a lightning bolt).
So this wound up working out because of g00r00 mentioning what "stuffkey()" does, though I used it as a kludge - I had a getkey() on the next line, and this made it so that fTerm would display the lightning bolt as it was drawn, rather than waiting until the end. (or at least it worked that way when I attempted to have a count-to-n script, where locally it worked fine, but
fTerm just showed the last number)
So thanks to g00r00 for mentioning that, and is anyone aware of how to get fTerm (or possibly other terminals) to display things directly, rather than using that kludge?
And is there a timing between using delay(1) and not using anything?
And, honestly, if people don't answer, it's okay -- I'll continue exploring
on my own. I mostly just wanted to share progress and gratitude.
